Blake has made huge progress since becoming a fixture on the main tour at the end of 2001, and he finished last year in the top 30 for the first time. A first career title in Washington that included a victory over Andre Agassi was the highlight, and the 23-year-old also made two other finals.

An all-court player, Blake looks to have a game that will flourish on the faster surfaces and clay is certainly his least favourite.
However, victories over Younes El Aynaoui and Fernando Gonzalez on the red stuff last year suggest he is learning fast.
Inexperience is still a factor as he has competed in just seven Grand Slam events, but Blake is not the type of personality to be overawed by Roland Garros and could spring a surprise or two.
