Scarlett O'Hara

Scarlett O'Hara is a brassy, streetwise survivor. Always quick with a witty line or cutting put-down, Scarlett is a great laugh down the pub, but behind this good-time girl front lies one of the quickest brains in Shieldinch.

Principled and loyal, Scarlett takes no prisoners when it comes to protecting those she loves, especially her family. Scarlett possesses a strong maternal streak. Mother to Kelly-Marie, Bob, Stevie, Patrick and little Madonna, Scarlett would fight tooth and nail for her kids. No more so than when her “bubba” Bob discovered he wasn’t her son but her nephew, his real mum being Scarlett’s sister Theresa. Forget blood being thicker than water, for Scarlett love is the tie that binds.

Of course that love has been tested something fierce. Scarlet was innocently sent to jail through the machinations of her son Stevie, in revenge for her turning him in to the police years before. Leaving behind her family and new fiancé Dougie, Scarlett was shocked to discover her new cell mate was Theresa. But the sisters weren’t reunited for long as Theresa’s sentence was up and she headed to Shieldinch to take on Scarlett’s role in the O’Hara clan. Stevie was eventually able to forgive Scarlett and, thanks to a little help from Gabriel Brodie, she was released from prison.

Returning home to Shieldinch, Scarlett was determined to protect her family from Theresa. The rivalry between the two sisters came to a head when Theresa started poisoning their mother Molly to keep her docile. It led to Theresa going on the run and she and Scarlett getting caught in the portacabin explosion. Scarlett survived, but Theresa’s karma finally caught up with her. Scarlett reconciled with her sister on Theresa’s deathbed, but found herself at loggerheads with her other sister Bernie over Theresa’s funeral...

Her relationship with Dougie took a nosedive when it turns out he may have been responsible for the explosion that killed Theresa. Imagine Scarlett’s shock and torn loyalties when she discovered it was actually her grandson Callum. She decides to protect Callum, which would send Dougie to jail. Even though she was distraught that Dougie’s daughter Poppy exposed the truth, she was proud that Stevie came full circle, realising Callum should face the consequences of his actions, like he did.

Scarlett decided she needed to be more involved in the community and ran for a seat on the the council. Much to everyone’s surprise she won and now Scarlett is determined to make life better for the residents of Shieldinch.
