Rory Murdoch

A sensitive soul, Rory has had enough heartache and loss to realise that family is not only complicated but the most important thing in life.

Rory is Lenny's son from his first marriage to Mary Murdoch. When Lenny and Mary parted ways, each parent took a child. Whilst Ewan went with Mary, Rory was left with Lenny. It was clear from the off that Rory didn’t fit in to Lenny’s gangster lifestyle – he was the antithesis of his father. He got on well with step-mother Lydia and half-sister Amber, but always struggled to find a way to communicate with Lenny. This was most apparent when Rory realised he was gay.

Feeling like his father couldn’t accept him; Rory fled Shieldinch and secretly set up a new life for himself in Brighton – out of his father’s clutches.

When Rory discovered Lenny had murdered Lydia, Rory returned to Shieldinch, hellbent on revenge. He wanted nothing more than to remove Lenny from power, to once and for all protect the Murdoch children from their unruly parent. He returned to Shieldinch a changed man, having toughened up both physically and emotionally. But Lenny was able to build bridges with his son and, now, Rory has finally found his place in the Murdoch fold; something he never thought possible.
