Poppy Patterson

Poppy grew up without much of a father figure as Dougie was often disappearing or doing stints in jail. But she refused to let this stop her and, influenced by her father’s life choices, she trained to become a lawyer.

In a bid to reconnect with her dad, she arrived in Shieldinch to clear Dougie’s name for the portacabin fire and was straight in interviewing the locals to find out what really happened. In doing so she drew the attention of Lenny Murdoch and whilst this would send most people running to the hills, Poppy refused to be intimidated.

Academically she’s super smart, has a strong set of morals and is not to be messed with in the court room but privately she tends to make bad decisions when it comes to love. Like embarking on a fling with Stevie O’Hara. During a heating argument the pair had a one night stand and though they then vowed to stay away from each other – it turned out they couldn’t.

Poppy was forced to choose between her romance with Stevie and justice for her father when she discovered that Callum was behind the portacabin explosion and that Stevie had known all along. In a bid to prevent Poppy having Callum arrested, Stevie was ordered by Lenny to kill her but he couldn’t bring himself to do it. Instead Stevie begged Poppy to leave town and keep the secret but Poppy’s morality won out. She escaped Stevie’s clutches and used what she knew to save Dougie. But as the police arrive to take Callum, Poppy chose not to reveal the part Stevie played… maybe there’s still hope for the young lovers yet?
