Pete captivated a young Caitlin at a Texas concert, and despite the age gap, a passionate affair resulted in the birth of their son, Drew. But Caitlin soon had to deal with Pete’s mood swings and reckless, erratic behaviour. It was just too much. His haphazard life meant that he never resumed contact with his son until Drew was fifteen.

When he turned up in Shieldinch, Caitlin feared that he’d break Drew’s heart. Instead Pete won him over. He impressed his son with his gigs at the Pop-Up and surprised Caitlin by getting a solid job at Amber Cabs and a room with new friend, AJ.

After a rocky start to their relationship, Caitlin and Pete finally settled. But things didn’t stay that way for long. When Caitlin asked Pete to marry her, he spent some time ducking and diving the question until, finally, he confessed – he’s already married. With an ultimatum hanging over his head, he went on the search for his wife Francesca and on finding her, brought her to Shieldinch to ask her for a divorce. At first she was resistant, thinking Pete was too good for hostile Caitlin but eventually she offered him a deal – she’ll give him his divorce if he sleep with her one last time. Pete agonized over what to do, and in an attempt to give Caitlin what she wanted, he slept with Francesca, only to discover – they were never married in the first place. Concealing his infidelity, Pete and Caitlin went ahead with their wedding and in Pete’s mind it went without a hitch. He was blissfully unaware of the drama unfolding that was about to destroy his chance for a happily ever after.

Post wedding, Caitlin grew distant and abrasive. Maggie forced her to come clean to her new husband and Pete was horrified to discover that Caitlin was a product of rape and that her father is actually her Uncle. Mild tempered Pete lashed out, punching Uncle John in the middle of Montego Street. The tables soon turned and Caitlin became violent in an attempt to deal with her personal bombshell. She however took her fury out on a sympathetic Pete.
