Nicole Brodie

Niece of Gabriel Brodie, Nicole was just a schoolgirl when she first arrived in Shieldinch but she packed a lot into a few tumultuous years. Nicole became fixated by a local councillor and when he gave into temptation Nicole’s dad, Michael, attacked him and later died in prison. Nicole then became pregnant and fled Shieldinch for Aberdeen and a new life with her baby, Grace.

But trouble doesn’t stay away for long, and when Nicole returned to Shieldinch she had undergone a major transformation – from gymslip mum to stripper – much to Uncle Gabriel’s horror. Nicole was cagey about the whereabouts of her young daughter and she was in a predicament, owing a significant amount of money to club owner Gerry. Nicole hid the extent of her troubles from Gabriel and instead set about wooing Bob O’Hara and blackmailing him for cash in the run up to his wedding to Kim, using the money to pay off Gerry. On the wedding day Nicole upped the pressure on Bob but her plans backfired when Bob did the decent thing and confessed to Kim that he had kissed Nicole.

Gabriel was horrified by his niece’s actions but when Nicole eventually admitted that she had gone down a dark path because her daughter had died, Gabriel took pity on her and offered to help her pay off her debt to Kim and Bob. Nicole’s next mission was to find a job but a stint as Angus’s assistant at Big Mug culminated in yet another catfight with Kim. It was new comer and unlikely ally, JP, who offered Nicole a job behind the bar at the Tall Ship after she tried to blag free booze.

Nicole caused more trouble for Bob and Kim as the pair embarked on an affair while Kim was nursing her mum, Isobel, through her dementia. The affair was short-lived but was enough to cause the break up of Bob and Kim. Nicole has also found herself embroiled in the lives of the McLeans in the aftermath of Joe Dunn’s murder. Does Nicole know more than she is letting on?
