Ruby has been through the mill lately. She was groomed by Sergeant Joe Dunn, who had been in a relationship with Caitlin. Pregnant again at 15, this time Ruby was determined to keep the baby which her family supported. But in a bid to protect Ruby from Joe, Joe attacked Caitlin and he ended up dead in the Tall Ship. The stress of losing her lover and falling out with her family brought about the premature birth of her baby, Joseph.
