Bob O'Hara
Loyal and loveable, Bob wants nothing more than to live happily in Shieldinch surrounded by friends and family. Bob’s moral code is strong and he’s led by his conscience. He genuinely wants the best for everyone, except, perhaps, Lenny Murdoch.
Family is key to Bob but his upbringing wasn’t always picture perfect. There was no love lost between him and his father, Paddy, who was an abusive bully. And he was devastated to discover his mother, Scarlett, was in fact his aunt, who raised him after his biological mother, Theresa, abandoned him. Bob forgave Scarlett for hiding the truth and built a relationship stronger than ever.
Bob had always longed for a family of his own but discovering his fertility problems and with a string of disastrous proposals to his belt, Bob thought it might never happen. The pair soon got their happily ever after with the news that Kim had fallen pregnant with Bob’s child.
Baby Mackenzie was born and Bob was happy with his little family, including Angus. But it didn’t last thanks to the unwelcome return of his real mother Theresa. She begged him for a second chance and a dubious Bob was eventually won over. It wasn’t long until Theresa’s true colours shone through and Bob learnt Theresa had pushed Kim in front of a car before stealing Mackenzie. Whilst Kim and Mackenzie survived the wrath of Theresa, Bob was unable to forgive and when Theresa died in the explosion of the portcabins, Bob refused to attend her funeral.
Looking to the future, Bob decided to use his inheritance money to give Kim the wedding she deserved. But Bob found himself targeted by hustler Nicole Brodie who befriended him in a bid to get to his cash. Innocent Bob didn’t realise Nicole’s dastardly plan until it was too late and, by praying on his insecurities, she lured Bob into a kiss. Nicole used this to blackmail Bob out of all of his inheritance leaving him unable to afford the wedding. With the help of Stevie and Angus, Bob managed to pull off a wedding but at the alter his guilty conscience got the better of him and he confessed all to Kim. It looked like the wedding might be called off but Bob and Kim were made for each other. They agreed to put it behind them.
Nicole managed to wangle her way back into Bob’s life when his marriage to Kim was at a low point and the pair embarked on an affair. Bob found himself embroiled in some dodgy dealings with Rory Murdoch to make more money, putting his whole family and his life at risk when he and Angus were stabbed. This was the final straw with Kim and she served Bob with divorce papers.
Will this Shieldinch resident get his life back on track and find some happiness again?
