People think we sing opera, we don't. We sing operatic pop!
Piero Barone

Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble were spotted in 2009 on the RAI TV show, Ti Lascio Una Canzone, but it was thanks to Michele Torpedine (their manager who has worked with Andrea Bocelli and Zucchero) that they became a trio, Il Volo.

Even before they had released their debut album, Il Volo set a remarkable series of records. They were the first Italians ever to sign a contract with Geffen/Interscope and the only Italian artists that Quincy Jones invited to sing on ‘We are the World’ for Haiti. The trio’s debut album has sold over a million copies, and they have received two Latin Grammy nominations going on to win the Latin Billboard ‘Best Act’ award.
