The Makemakes (Austria): 'I Am Yours'

After last years triumphant win with Conchita Wurst, Austria kept the beards but changed the genre, choosing California-style rockers The Makemakes. One of 16 candidates who participated in the Austrian national selection this year, a public vote and jury agreed that The Makemakes should be the act to represent their country on home turf with ‘I Am Yours’.

Founded in 2012, the band named themselves after the dwarf planet Makemake, which in turn owes its name to the creator of humanity and god of fertility of the Rapa Nui who reside on Easter Island.
Jusy one month after they were founded, their first single 'The Lovercall’ charted in Austria. The band consists of Dodo (Dominic) Muhrer (vocals), Max (Markus) Christ (bass) and Flo (Florian) X. Meindl (drums).
The band had further recognition in 2013 as the supporting act for Bon Jovi in Vienna, and their single 'Million Euro Smile' successfully made it to the charts in 2014.
