Australia are back in the competition for another year. Representing them in 2016 is artist Dami Im who has built up a considerable following down under after winning the Australian X Factor in 2013.

Born in South Korea, Dami moved to Brisbane with her family aged nine. A classically trained pianist, she learnt how to speak English by listening to pop songs including Mariah Carey and the Spice Girls. After winning the hearts of the Australian public on X Factor she released an album which went to number one and followed up with a run of successful single releases.

Competing in Eurovision means an incredible amount to Dami, she says “All my life I felt like I didn't belong anywhere. I remember the first time I watched Eurovision with my friends, I thought that is where I belong. The amazing vocals, the elaborate costumes, everything was crazy but it was perfect. Being a part of it is like a dream come true."
