Sandhja (Finland): 'Sing It Away'

Sandhja is a Finnish singer songwriter with roots in India. In 2014 her debut Urban Pop album ‘Goldwas’ included top 20 radio hits ‘Hold Me’ and ‘Gold’. Travelling to Guyana and Jamaica, Sandhja looked to find inspiration and influences for her second album which resulted in ‘Sing It Away’, the song she’ll perform onstage in Stockholm.

Sandhja believes there is a strong ‘girl power’ theme in her performance saying “I have five back-up singers that sing, dance and party with me on stage. All of them are my very good friends in real life, which makes it easy to have fun with them on stage.”
Outside of music Sandhja is a nurse and has also competed on a national level in kickboxing, winning some Finnish championship medals. Sandhja intends to make her martial arts skills work for her during Eurovision - shadowboxing in order to relax backstage on the night.
