Hello to student Ilze!
I'm sure all of you are aware by now, but Ilze is our new student blogger. The blog has a habit of occasionally 'eating' comments, so here's a message for Ilze:
Ilze - nice to meet you! It was really interesting to find out a bit about you. How long have you been living in the Channel Islands? Just one question: as your e-friend/teacher, what kind of advice would you like from me? Would you like to just chat over the internet/share life experiences, or would you like advice on your English language, too? Let me know!
I wish you all the best in this coming month.
Kind regards,
Sarah

Hello Sarah! Hope you're enjoying your trip in China. Thank you for the corrections you've made. Best Wishes, Mahjabeen.
Hi Sarah! My intention was to post this comment in the blog entry about China, but unhappily I couldn´t. Your pictures are amazing! Is it difficult to learn Mandarin? I am wondering if it has sounds like English, although writing is totally different.
Hi Sarah! I was sorry to read on 'Grammar Challenge Answers' blog that 'Nobody got all 3 questions correct', because all my questions WERE correct. Kind regards and best wishes.
HiSarah Nice to meet you too. First of all, I am here to improve my English, therefore your advice is essential. In Jersey I am about 8 months.
It is nice to meet you Sarah! As I haven´t been following this blog for ages due my new studies, I am learning Creek, I am baffled where it is exactly you are living Sarah? Quick look at the previous entries, you talked about the Isle of Wight, Notting Hill Carnival and lately you made me understand you are in China. Sarah I lost my bearings! Notting Hill makes me thing of Notting Hill Gate, Queensway or Holland Park. Sarah you look like you maybe reside in Holland Park? I am Leila from Northern Finland. I did live in London for five years, it is many, many years ago now. But today I am hopeful that I may get the chance to participate and communicate with you few times. Although, I am aware that you are here mainly for Ilze. Best to you...

Hi shara, these days you seems very busy?. is it so? Here I would like to share about the show that I watched yesterday in our local TV channel. Sorry if I digress here. Let me tell you what is special about the show, yep!, this show put an end to my mourning on music from my previous post. The show was the telecast of Academy winning music composer AR Rahman felicitation ceremony conducted by the south Indian film music composers association. AR Rahman was praised by most of the legends in the Tamil film industry. The epitome of the ceremony was music composer IllayaRaja’s and singer S.Janakai’s speech, at times even I got goose bumps and tears while they were speaking. Unless someone knows about these two personalities work and contribution to the music, the speech seems futile, but I feel it is worth giving a thought about it and at least for me it gives a boost up to someone who feels the efforts go waste but in reality it is not the case. At times I usually desperate when something fiasco happens unexpectedly when I expect something better. </Next paragraph> Oh, still I have not divulged what that speech was, but before that I would tell you few things about someone I admire in the field of music. On that day of ceremony, one of the chief guests was MS Viswanathan who is also legendry Tamil music composer of yesteryears. In my opinion, contribution of IllayaRaja, S.Janaki and MS Viswanathan to music is unparalleled. No other singer can match to this lady S.Janaki who has been singing for more than half century; it is not only her voice is mellifluous but also the modulation that she gives while singing depends on the mood of the songs is really fantabulous, I bet nobody can even think about it. And, her voice perfectly matches to all the heroines from the yesteryears to present. If someone who curious to know specialty in her song, I strongly advice at least once you should get to listen, initially it may be boring as the music is not that standard which have not used much of the technologies in sound mixing, and it might be something rustic or country, however, I am very much sure it will win over you at sometime and feel the tranquility, especially illayaRaja and S.Jankai combo is marvelous, each and every songs takes you to the height of heaven. You know what, she even sing like a child, a old lady, male voice, is not it intrigued?, she had rendered these performance in the playback singing. Let me allow to tell you some of the films and songs: film : ‘Muthal mariyathai’- song: ‘Rasave unnai’. To get to know modulation, I suggest the song ‘ponmeni urukuthe’ from the film ‘moondram pirai’ and it is just the two songs that I picked but there are thousands of songs. You should try googling or search in youtube for more and I sure that you feel different sound that never heard before. I vouch for the music really activates the brain cells, try it once and feel the joy. </Next paragraph> Now I come to the topic, another chief guest in the ceremony told in his speech that MS Viswanthan was not been honored with covetous award by our government for his contribution and what he is really deserve for it, this is still also applicable to Illayaraja. But, while Illayaraja spoke he did mention as response to it and here is the excerpt of the speech, he said ‘It is not all the plants produce the buds in the world; it is not all the buds will blossom; it is not all the flowers that blossom will become vegetables; it is not all the vegetables become the fruits’ so it is all in the hands of the nature. In this statement I confer how much it is true that it is not all that we do is not necessarily be recognized or attain the stage of what they deserve it, however, we should do our contribution without any expectation. He told that he never pined for awards because which will become futile without the composer or the person who receive it. Even I have feel that if we do not have any expectation we will not get desperate when things turns tragic but it does not mean that we should never dream to achieve something, I hope
Adek - many apologies! You were indeed the only student to get all the answers correct, sorry to have overlooked this. 10 Brownie points to you ;-) __________________________________ Leila - hi, how are you? I am now back in England; I live in a village called Worplesdon. Not much happens here, so I do try to move about a bit! I have also been traveling for work. __________________________________________ So, you’re from Finland? I love the Finnish language - we studied for a week as part of my training to become a teacher. It helped me understand what it feels like to learn a new language without ANY prior knowledge! It's also a beautiful language, although I understand that the grammar is immensely complicated. _______________________________________________________ Best wishes to you all, bye for now. S x Ps I use the lines to represent paragraph breaks
<continue> the expectation is different from the dream. Now I recollect our former president Dr.APJ Adbul kalam thoughts on dreams, he said that dream is not that you get while sleeping but it is that makes you not to sleep.__________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________ At time I start thinking what would be better way to be stay always happy as it is mundane that everyone in this world has to face mix of joy and sorrow in their life. At last I have to cultivate the habit of feeling the joy of sorrow which makes the dire circumstance also looks positive and feel something good in it. When I think off it, one Tamil movie title splash to my mind, it is ‘iru koddukal’ meaning ‘two lines’, what is there in this two line concept. Here you go, draw a big line in sheets which will really looks bigger as it is the only line there. Now, in parallel to that line, draw another line longer than that. Now, the erstwhile line become small compare to the new one. Is n’t it?, like wise whenever we come across a problem that might look bigger initially but when we get into some other bigger problem the other one seems trivial. It does not mean that we always get into the problem ;-), what I means the problems depends on the eyes of beholder and how we handle it so face it and disappear as if the droplet vanish while sunshine.
Thanks for all your contributions. This blog has now closed and can no longer accept new comments.
