Christmas is Coming….

And where is everyone?!

Come on Stephen Keeler, come out, come out wherever you are... you've got a big fan base on this blog and I am one of them.

Great to catch up Amy, and Simon - if Amy doesn’t make it to Istanbul, we just well might so would it be all right to call upon your services too? :)

Well I just can’t believe it. Here I am in Sri Lanka with the majority population Buddhists and a sizeable number Hindus and Muslims and here we are at the beginning of December and the whole of Colombo is going mad for Christmas. Yeah, I know there are Christians too, but I just didn’t expect down town Colombo to start looking like Oxford Street one week into December! The supermarkets are sporting alcoholic hampers and churning out the oldies on the stereo. You know the ones… “I wish it could be Christmas every day..” “…lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with you…” which is your favourite/most hated Christmas song? Write in and tell us. Hey, shall we do a survey – and end up with a top ten best and worst of all the commercial/traditional songs associated with Christmas? What do you think?

So, I was in the supermarket today with Pankaj buying ingredients for our housewarming party tomorrow night and there was all this bling and tat on sale and when we came out the roads were chock-a- block and it took us ages to get home and I thought to myself, this has all come at the right time for the global recession. Hmm. Will this push make us all go out and spend loads of dosh? It worked for me! We spent a fortune in the supermarket today.

Then, I felt so much in the party mood that we came back and put our tree up. I was a little worried because of Isabel but actually she has been amazing and is treating it sort of like a holy shrine and looks but doesn’t touch! She keeps gasping in awe of the fairy lights and putting her hand to her mouth and saying “wow”. I have to say, she is at a very cute stage at the moment.

Moving on… Hey guys I need some help. I am planning to make mulled wine for out party tomorrow night. I have looked on the net and there is a plethora of recipes and I just can’t make up my mind which one to follow. Has anyone got a tried and tested one they could let me have? You’re gonna have to be quick – you’ve got 24 hours to let me know. :)

That’s all for now. Looking forward to your recipes for mulled wine. Any news on Marvin yet Simon?

Night night,

Helen x

...well,I don't have any recipe for the wine..but anyway,I want to comment about your blog and your party... =) I really like it...your plans about your Christmas party..and i would like to have it in my home... :P Well,I am Azra ..I live in Serbia,if you know where is ti...it's a small country in Europe.. it's not so nice ,but a I love my home.. <3 Well, that's all i wanted to say... and friend of mine who is sitting next to me,Demir says hello to you... (:

"Christmas is coming...", actually this thought makes me exciting.Nowadays, christmas becomes common in my country. On these days, all the shops along the streets of Saigon are decorated with sparkling ornaments.Getting along these street, a cosy feeling created in me.I like the song "Jingle Bell" most of all, it recalls my childhood time :-). I find the word "chock-a-block" sooo interesting, though I don't know whether I understand this word in the right way or not. I think this word expresses the state you were in, with loads of sale off goods What a pity that I can't help you in making that wine. It seem strange to me.Hope you enjoy your housewarming party. Good luck

Hi Helen! It would be our pleasure to be your guides! Just let me know we can get in touch through the team or see if you can hunt me down on Facebook!

What a lovely Christmas tree you have! I'm so jealous!! That's so christmasy indeed. well, one of my favourite Christmas songs is 'Love is all around' from the film 'Love actually'. I think I'll watch it again to get the warm feelings before this Chrismas! :)

Your Christmas tree is beautiful. I hope you have a wonderful party. O come all ye faithful, deck the halls, white Christmas are my favourite Christmas song.

Hi Helen! I can picture of Isabel's so curious and a little taken aback face. How cute she is! The other day my husband and me went to shopping and we were a bit shocked as lots of quite famous shops were not busy at all even though the shops offered their fantastic goods great value for moneay.it's proven many people feel the pinch.see youxx

Hi Helen! I can just feel the most important Isabel“s presence on that photo. Nice to read your lines. Really took me into an exotic place with the christmas atmosphere. Yesterday, I did my very austere decoration in my flat too. Any song from me, I am wholy lost here. See you soon!

Dear Hellen, It is nice to see you in the blog fest. Due to my computer problem I couldn't be able to toch with you during the last period,it was pity. Even though I am hindu we celebrate christmas because when we were small kids my father worked at british company, since then we celebrate christmas not like christians but our own way. Your christmas tree is lovely and the lights are beautiful, difinitely Isabel say"Wow" when the lights are on. Helen, How was your housewarming party. Are you going anywhere during the christmas holidays. My daughter is coming from university for christmas holiday, I will make good food and she will make nice chocoalate cake with velvet cream. It is so Yummy. During the hoildays people will put on little more weight and then work out to get rid of that. Helen, I like the christmas song " the Rudolph the red nosed reinder have a shinny nose". I wish you a merry christmas and a happy and properous New year(2009). Convey my kind regards to Pankaj and Isabel.

Hi Helen, thanks for your bold new words, you have been very helpful to me. In the big cities of Taiwan, a lot of people are crazy for X'mas, even though they are not a christian. It seems a common sign in the whole world. See you, James.

Hi Helen. I agree with you. Where's teacher Stephen???

Thanks for all your contributions. This blog has now closed and can no longer accept new comments.
