Kung Fu Panda

Dear Ana (Kung Fu Panda) Paula,

It’s great to read your posts, they are so colourful, lively and full of character. Interesting how people’s personalities can shine through text!
Here is a link about a mini film festival in Istanbul called Film Ekimi which is basically a preview of the good films coming up this season, many of them art house:
http://www.iksv.org/filmekimi_2008/english/
There is a big international film festival in Istanbul around February time so when you are ready to take a year or two off work and travel the world’s film festivals be sure to check out Istanbul’s (I’m serious – try and do it!)! Cinema is very popular here!!! If you come, be sure to look us up.
I’m not quite sure how to take Catherine’s comments about my dancing actually – a bit tongue in cheek if I know her (I’m no John Travolta but I will get up there and strut my stuff with the best of them if the music takes me!) Anyway, I’m sure you’re only kidding about your dancing ability too right Miss Panda…? By the way do you know Catherine from Brazil as I know she worked there for a while.
Regarding Woody Allen, I wasn’t there and didn’t meet him. He was in Istanbul with his jazz band for a concert. She saw him coming out of Aya Sofia (it’s a very famous old church/mosque/museum. I mentioned it I think in a previous blog. She loves Woody and went ape when she saw him and just ran up to him (not even his body guard could stop her!). The Aya Sofia is perhaps my favorite old building…
Ok so now I’m gonna play tough teacher and highlight some of your errors. Your job is to correct them yourself and everyone else in blogland can do this for homework too!
Here they are:

1) Anyway, once I´ve tried to take some belly dancing classes
2) which are a very demanding task
3) by that time
4) First thing you should know is
5) thanks for telling me how is you and mark

Then when you have finished that pick out some phrases that you like( let’s say 3) and try to use them in a sentence or in your daily life…

It's great to do the homework that you gave us. I'm not quite sure if it is correct. Here they are: 1)Anyway, once I tried to take som belly-dancing classes. 2)which is a very demanding task. 3)at that time. 4)The first thing you should know is. 5)thanks for telling me how you and Mark are.

It's nice to get to know all of you. This is my first time to blog here and it is the best way that I have ever tried to practice my English. Here is my homework: 1.Anyway, once I try to take some belly dancing classes 2.which is a very demanding task 3.by then 4.First thing that you should know is 5、thanks for telling me how you and mark is

Hello Simon! I would say that question about gentleman was a bit fanny trap. The first thought, which stroke many of us, including me, was that man is your father in law. Reading the previous post from Ana made me laughing. I was trapped by innocent question. I’ve slightly overevaluated my awareness….

Hi,Simon I've done my homework and here is the answers: Once I tried to take belly dancing up, which was demanding a very difficult task, and attended to some classes.3.at the time 4.First you have to learn how to co-ordinate your hands and head together.5.Thanks for telling me how to choose the set of songs between you and Mark.Although my shyness of using new phrases has been shined through in writing comments on the blogland. I am very miserable when I find silly mistakes in my writing and will be going ape if I make same mistakes.Have a good day!

Hello Simon, speaking of woody Allen, well, it's from your blog that I came to know of and of course Ana hit the nail on the haed. After coming to know of his identity, I really hide my face behind my hands. Valdimir, don't worry we were all on the same boat:-) when we mistaken WA for Simon's father inlaw. Best wishes, Naheed

Hi Simon. Yes definitively I agree with you about the charming, bright (and lots of nice adjectives)character of Ana Paula. It goes directly to the vein and creates addiction. But you're not less, I'm enjoying a lot this site. (thanks a lot to everybody)

Dear Simon, how are things? This is great if you have such a possibility to follow film festivals! I envy you :) For other extremely busy people it’s some kind of luxuriance. Without tongue in cheek, I’m serious! As ordinary cinema-goers we can see a miserable piece of what is shown during film festivals around the world. I think we can’t realize fully how many masterpieces will stay invisible for a great audience. By the way concerning your task: 1) anyway, once I tried to take some belly dancing classes (past simple); 2) which is a very demanding task (singular); 3) by the time (or: at that time); 4) the first thing you should know is (numeral); 5) thanks for telling me how you and Mark are (“you are” and “thx for *ing).

Hello Simon, how are you today? It's a sunny day here in Brazil. How is it in Istambul. Everyday I become more impressed by your city as you describe it. It seems to be so full of life. Now you tell me there's a big film festival there. It must be thrilling to live in a place like this. Well, I don't know any of this stuff because I live very far away from the big center. The cultural life here is next to zero. And it's so far away from everywhere... Well, at least nowadays we can see things on the internet. Let me try the homework: I go ape everytime I know my favourite singer is coming to town. She was being a little tongue in cheek when she said he was a good cook. It's great to read about you. That's it Simon, see you later. Bye.

Hallo everybody, Dancing is wonderful thing but unfotunately when I try to dance with my wife at home inspired by music our two dogs don't let us. They jump and bark so loudly we cannot hear the music. We have to be out to dance. Sadly I've to admit it doesn't happen. I often heard an opinion that the musicians can't dance and my observations cofirm that. Of course they feel the rhytm but that's all. Isn't it stange? Maybe they express yourself by playing notes only?

Hi Simon! It's great that you gave us homework, but you should give us more homework=) This is my homework: 1) Anyway, once I tried to take some belly dancing classes 2) which is a very demanding task 3) by this time 4) First thing is you should know 5) thanks for telling me how you and mark

hi simon,I just wanted to tell you that I visited Aya Sofia some years ago and I was impressed by its beauty.I agree also with the enthusiasm of your wife for Woody Allen. About the mistakes I found:1)anyway once I tried.... 2)Which is a very demanding test 3)the first thing you should know 5)thanks for telling me how you and Mark are, About the sentences:I am so shy that i never let my personality shine through my texts. In spite of my efforts,a bit tongue in cheek if I can understand her feelings. Playin tough teacher was the only way she knew to obtain silence. Are the sentences correct?bye bye maione.

Hi Simon. I'm intrigued by your dancing skills. Which kind of music do you prefer for dancing? If you have some time, maybe you should check this reggae band: Tribo de Jah. I'm not a reagge fan at all but this band impressed me for the physical condition of its members. This band was discovered in a school for blind people. The musicians have lived at this school and spent all the time together playing, creating new instruments and practising. It's been a trend here and they are making shows all over the world. I strongly recommend "Estradas e Trilhas - Vídeo Clip Oficial". You might find out easily on you tube if you like...I hope you'll like it. Moreover it would be a pearl on your radio program. Bye

Hello Simon! Above and over everything useful we may so freely learn about English language here on this fantastic BBC LE blog system is that constant process of dealing with showing our personalities so open. Is that really so? May it not be more like the participation on the medieval Venice´s carnival where to wear masks was so compelling? What do you think about such concept? There were tasks we used in practicing the language after all only, weren´t there? Each one, whatever site on, who stayed here a longer time had had to adaptate on how to live a new role in The long way of a day in to the night. So, Simon, I hope truly your Mum is proud of you for keeping us so succesfuly to stay in the role. Thanks sincerely!

Dear Simon, Catherine let the cat out of bag for your dancing ability and in my opinion she is not kidding. Certainly she had seen you dancing very nicely. It should not be taken seriously if someone praised you for ability frankly. I am always in dark corner to recognised famous actors or actress. Regarding correction my answers are:1) Anyway, once tried to take some belly dancing classes 2) which is a very demanding task 3) by the time/ in that time4) The first thing you should know is 5) thanks for telling me how you and Mark are

Thanks for all your contributions. This blog has now closed and can no longer accept new comments.
