Anything could happen!

Dear Ana Paula,
It’s great to hear that you got to stage number 1 in the dance process but I’m curious to hear how many stages there are until you get to the real thing? I’m also curious to hear as to why you are such a reluctant dancer! This sounds serious (do we need to call a doctor?! ;). Glad you liked the show! Regarding how my friend Mark and I select the music, the first thing you should know is that we usually don’t collaborate. We just turn up at the station and surprise each other. That seems to give us and everyone else the sense that anything could happen! Regarding how I select the tracks that I play, it really depends on what mood I’m in the night before and the morning of the show as well as what stuff I find that week in my record collection (yes, I said “record” collection!) or by searching the internet. The golden rule though is that I must like it and it should groove. However, “groove” has a very broad meaning!!! If you tune in next week you will probably see what I mean! Why don’t you choose a few tracks and I’ll see if I can find them and play them for you (if I like them of course!!). By the way, this is not something I do professionally (I mean for money) just for the love of music! I believe that music is probably humankind’s greatest achievement. Everyone loves music and music loves everyone, it can cross all boundaries and hurts no-one. Also I can’t recommend making music with friends enough. It is such a good feeling and an extraordinary way of connecting with people, very good for the soul. Do you play an instrument? Is there anything you do, or, would like to do just for the love of it? This question is not only for you Ana but everyone else too, - let’s call it homework if you like- you are all so interesting and I’m building a better picture of you all the more you comment. I’m wondering how the picture you are building of me is looking now…
(A special note for Vladimir: beware the monster from the deep could raise it’s fearsome head at any moment…)
I think that will have to be it from me for now but let me leave you with a special picture of my wife and…

Extra task (alongside my question in the blog): write some sentences using the phrases I've highlighted.

Hi Simon, I still haven't been able to hear your program. Most of the time, my internet connection does not allow me to listen to on line radio. But I'll go on trying. It's worth. How can I do to practice my spoken English using skype? How do I search for english speaking people? Now regarding the homework, there's not something I do just for the love of it, but there are lots of things I'd love to do just for the love of it including learning how to play an instrument. But I guess I haven't learned how to deal with my time yet. And the problem is that I'm not getting any younger and it's taking too long for me to start doing any of these things. Now let me try to do the other homework: - It's great to hear you'll go on being our teacher blogger next month. - I'm curious to hear how you manage to find new people to talk to on skype. - Wether I'm going to wear dark color or lighter color clothes really depends on what mood I'm in. - I can't recommend reading bbc english blog enough. That's it Simon. Great to have talked to you again. See you more. Bye, bye.

Hi Simon, Let me start from the picture. I guess it is a picture of your wife and his father (or you?). It's great to hear that you do your secondary job just for love of it and not for money, how paradoxical that I try to search an additional job to earn more money for the love of my family. The golden rule is I don't necessarily like the job but the most important one is the job can be done after working hours before the 7 pm.

Hello Simon, speaking of you and your friend playing the music on your show, I can make a picture as to how much you two would be surprising each other. Any coincidence that springs to your mind when you both have thought to play the same song? It's also a good idea to play the music whcih you like that means you follow the golden rule of not being picky. As for playing an instrument, I really can't play any instrument. The thing that I like to do is to draw pictures especially of landscapes, flowers, pots and the objects in surrounding that I get inspired with. Just as you are building a better picture of us in your mind, I too have build a picture of you in my mind that you seem to be an easy going person and don't get too fussy about things. Oh, you always leave few things on us, as just like the picture you have posted. Is the man sitting in the car your father in-law. See you next time, Naheed

Hi,Simon,i loved your description about music espeicaly the sentence 'it can cross all bounddaries and hurts no-one' it really is as youmentioned. i like tambourine but unfortunately i have not had the opportunity to learn and play that. i am going to listen this week to your show it is so late , you know our weekend is differnet from you we have to go to work Sundays .

Hi Simon! Be sure, I’m aware…Not only monster, but also very big fish may scare anyone, especially if you are rowing in small boat alone. Let me say a few words about my way in learning English, it lasts many years. From the very beginning there were innumerable as well as unsuccessful private lessons. Since that unhappy period of wasting my time and money as well, I’d been highlighted twice. Once by attending local language school, managed by Solovov. And next time by discovering BBC LE. I’ve highlighted that milestones to many friends of mine, but not everyone shares my inspiration. I recon it’s normal. To highlight your own experience to friend is a common way of behavior but it doesn’t mean that everyone is supposed to do the same. As for the gentleman who is wearing eyeglasses, I think he is your father in law.

Hi Simon! The first thing you should know is that a virus had been detected here last weak not that the comments had been forgotten to write. You might be also curious to read how the task you had included here was the backround of my thoughts too. I suppose it were your activities which put them into my mind. There exists someone in that new open world from today who devotes his time -money?- interest and energy into something just making a pleasure, transmitting and multiplying good energy. Do not wait passively, do not change everything in to a bussiness and money. It´s hard these days! On Saturday, after a summer break, our painting course started again to continue. Although, there was not much time for speaking because each one had been strongly focused on how to grasp the idea, I felt really satisfied at the end. Painting is mostly a single man discipline and so it was for me for years. I thought I´d be unable to work at a daylight with other people around. Your writing about music reflects my passion in painting. However as a single-working woman it´s hard to organize time energy soul or mentalstrenghts and fight for finding practical skills in all for alone. That all you presents in the work at the end which to find is that art. Ps: I like such kind of monsters! Cheers!

Hi dear Simon, great to meet you.I have found this weblog recently.I read some of your blogs inwhich you helped the student bloggers here, and I'm a new blogger that would like to get your help particularly at speaking. Of course, I know that reading the blogs on the board and answering them is useful to improve speaking skills but, I would be so grateful to know your recmmendations. best wishes. Karoun

Hi, Simon I am very curious to hear how well you dance. If you are a fantastic dancer I will be very disappointed as I have two left feet. I’ve been building a better picture of you like this: I think you are a Jack of all trades and can’t stand any soul-destroying activity, therefore, you are sometimes up to mischief and love black humour. You are well cultured and eager to feed yourself with good books, movies and so on. I guess you don’t like to wash your hair because you wear a cap in your picture (joking). You love your daughter and wife to bits. I am trying to use the golden rules of English punctuation, how am I doing? Have a great day!

I am curious to hear about Woody Allen, we have not heard of him for decades! Did he just turn up in your neighborhood, or what? Furthermore, I am curious to hear, what Woody Allen has to do with your dear wife.

Hi Simon & Friends, The first thing you should know is I missed reading your blog and I'm still not able to hear your program yet. I hope I'll able to do it so on this weekend. I love cooking very much and for the love of it, I make my own recipe book. Whenever my mum taught me new recipe I will note it down and keep it as a treasure.I also have a habit of taking photos of the food I cook. It's really depend on what mood I'm at that time sometimes I like to cook western food like spaghetti or fish and chips and sometimes I like to cook local delicacy. It's give me pleasure when they enjoy the food I cooked.

Hi! Simon,I am an irregular commentator Tiasha for this blog. Due to my mother illness I had to go to different city to see her and at my mother's home there is no internet access. I stayed with her for a couple of months until she got little better. My sister live in the same city as my mother. Yesterday I phoned my sister and asked about her improvement her health. It's a great pleasure to hear that she is geting better everyday and she is walking with walking stick. At the start she couldn't be able to get from the by her self. I am curious to hear how my mother got this terrible kidney infection. Because my parents live in a house by themself and they rarly socialize with outside people only cetain relatives.I was also curious to hear as to why she didn't get right treatment at the right time. The first thing the doctors should have digonised her properly and given her right antibiotic. Simon, I don't play any instrument, but my daughters play violin, I love to hear classical instrument.I hear classical music not only for love of it, but also for relaxation. Simon, I read all your interesting and informative blogs. Now I'm building a better picture of you the more teach better things

Hello! My posts must be stuck in some nook of blogland! I'm surprised to hear that the last touch of your programme is( a bit)off the cuff. I have never had the chance to play an intrument. The golden rule is never to regret anything. Instead, I paint. Oil painting is such an enjoyable activity than I can't recommend daubing enough! You're beyond time with a brush in the hand. Do it just for the love of it and... decorate my house and friends' ones. What I paint depends on what mood I'm in and the snapshots I've got at hand. Will we be able to build a complete picture of you before the end of this month? You're such a busy man! So long.

Dear Simon, Your golden rule may be working but I’m more curious to know that have you done audience survey how many people do really enjoy your programme. It is great to hear that your programme much more success than what we expected through audience survey. Is the basic reason of success is the sense that anything could happen or something else? Please don’t take it otherwise because I was involved in audience survey which was done more than 20 years where I worked as a tabulator. That is why I know audience view is more important than on what mood you are in. I can’t recommend to do survey still I have not been through your programme. Unless and until I go through your programme more frequently, I can’t say anything about it in detail. Another thing is that right now I’m not doing anything just for love it but few years ago I enjoyed gardening. As you informed us both of you don’t collaborate but how you are harmonising programme? In my opinion in that picture your wife is accompanied by her father. I think it is enough for this blog. Am I right?

It's great to hear that you are musician too.But you seem to be more devoted to music than me. I'm also curious to hear why you have chosen a bass guitar ( girls like guitar players or drummers best ?!) I used to play bass myself even professionally and remember peaple saying tha I'm good at it. I was lucky to pley with better musicians tha me. I had the sense that anything could happenduring a gig. Once we played two hours longer (it was four a.m.) because my friend inspired us and we couldn't resist it. If you dream about becoming a good musician the first thing you should know is that you must spend many hours every day practicing to gain proficiancy. When you do it just for the love of it you are the most affective and it pains the least sometimes even at all. I can't recomment being to play any instrument enough. You may immerse youestlf in very different world or even escape from the reality. What and how you play depends on what mood you are in. Regarding question who is on the fotograph with your wife I think it's Santa Claus :-) (sorry I couldn't resist). Bye for know.

Dear Simon, it’s great to hear that you choose music according to your heart beating. But I’m curious to know can you play any musical instrument? If “yes” then what music do you play? I’m also curious to hear as to how is it possible for you just to turn up at the station and surprise your radio audience if you are always bounded by the house rules of your station? No, really, it must be tricky :) Well, after reading this post I can conclude that your activity on the radio waves gives you the sense that everything depends on what mood you are… And this should be a golden rule for everyone who does anything just for the love of it! :) Well, hope I managed to do our HW by this comment, and this will help in building a better picture of me :) However one point in your post I still can’t understand: the meaning of “I can’t recommend *ing enough”. Could you please clarify this a bit? Thank you in advance!

Thanks for all your contributions. This blog has now closed and can no longer accept new comments.
