Hello from Anne!

Hi Everyone!

Just a quick hello from me. My name is Anne and I’m the new teacher blogger. I’m really looking forward to Xuan’s first post and getting to know everyone.

Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am currently living and working in Bangkok, Thailand. I work as Head of English for a large IT company. I am married to Steve and we have two gorgeous kids, Joshua (aged 3) and Rachel (aged 1). I am originally from Newcastle Upon Tyne, which is in the north of England. I have just been back there, actually, for my sister’s wedding. It was quite an unusual wedding and I will tell you all about it once I have sorted through my photos and can show you some pictures. I only got back yesterday, so I am still suffering from jet lag. I haven’t even unpacked yet! I’m at work right now but maybe by the time I get home the kids will have unpacked everything for me….

Ok, like I said, just a quick post from me for my first blog. Let’s wait to hear from Xuan than we can start chatting in earnest.

Bye for now,
Anne.

in earnest (idiom) – properly, more seriously

Hi Anne,I am looking forward for your posts and suggestions and I am also waiting for Xuan first post.

Hi Anna. Welcome to the blog!!!! I'm a reader of the blog. Everyday I try to read it and write something about the new entries. I think it is very very useful to improve my (poor) English and, the most important, to make friends around the world. I'm looking forward to your second post and I hope to know many things about the place where you live. Thank you to you and all the BBC's team for the oportunity to learn English and, at the same time, to have such a window opened to the world. Best wishes!!!

Hi Anne, cordially welcome to be our teacher, I would like to read each entry of your blog. see you and take care, James

Hello, Anne! Welcome to the blog! The Head of English for a large IT company sounds very interesting. Can you tell us about your work?

Hi, Anne! I’m eager to gain more useful expressions as well as fresh stories about Thailand. I’ve never visited Thailand, therefore I hope your own impressions will help me to become a bit common with Thai. See later.

Hi Anne, a big Welcome. It will be my utmost pleasure to know about Thailand, a country known for its natural beauty, wonderful tourist destinations. In India, during course of wedding (even after marriage also) there are many social rites we are bound to perform. As per tradition, both Bride and Bridegroom, can not move out of house for atleast 3 day prior to marriage (new generation started to avail relaxation). To beautify would-be couple, a mixture of Turmeric powder, wheat flour, musturd oil etc. (called Vatna) is applied on the body of girl and boy (by close relatives term-by term) in the presence of close relatives amidst folk songs at every late evening at their respective parent houses. Parents of both bride & bridegrooms gift jewelry, wedding dresses and other costly items to couple. Close relatives also gift (including Cash) them through their parents. Is it happen in England also?. If yes, what are you gifting to your sister. Is help of married sisters to plan and execute different marriage -related-activities, is taken. How many days marriage activities consume. With best wishes.

Hello Anne! I am very glad to know that the teacher blogger of April is living in Thailand because I am very curious about the institutions and culture of this coutry. I hope you can talk about the life in Thailand. Thus, I am looking forwards to reading your blog. Today 1st of April in my country is the 'day of lies', that is, a day in which to tell little lies is addmitted and sometimes the media tell very interesting lies specially the newspapers. Is there anything like this in your country of origin or in Thailand? I wish you enjoy the time during which you will be writting in this blog. Bye for now. Antonio.

Hi Anne, Welcome, hope we will learn more English from you. It is interesting to know that soft ware companies employ English teacher. Actually what is your role or responsibilities in the company? Are you teaching English to the staff? Or are you doing translation work? We will hear your sister’s wedding stories and the living experience in Bangkok. How long have you been here? Do you like the country where you are working now. Bye for now.

Dear Anne, this is my first post, so maybe I should say Welcome both you and me to BBC blogs! I am from China, and I spent 4 years here in Melbourne as an overseas student. Unfortunately, my English did not improve much, and I believe that was because rather than joining in some social activities,I spent too much time studying. Now I graduated, and I realised that I really need to put more effort on learning English. I found this website two days ago, and I have to say it is the best idea I have ever seen. I hope I could make some friends here and we could share our lives and improve our English.

I think it's really happy to take part in a wedding, especially your friends' or familiy's ones. But to me, it's quite weirdo to imagine my brothers' weddings--because we've been together for a very long time. There always exist some tricky things during our growing-up.

Thanks for all your contributions. This blog has now closed and can no longer accept new comments.
