Trudi, I see that you included a lot of expressions like " get my head down" or "pulling my hair out". Are they very common in coloquial english? I hope you can rest after finishing your essay. I suppose that in China next week is like any other labour week. Here in Uruguay the Holy Week has been transformed into Tourism Week, and another not christian names, but it is almost for everybody a holiday. Today the city is more quiet, and on Friday it will be almost empty.

Dear Trudi, I want to request you that some of sentences written by commentator are based on nice sentence structure but these contain minor mistakes unknowingly. If you can trace those sentences and give exercise to us to do correction, it will be beneficial to all of us. Certainly all of us are trying ourselves to boost up our language skills. Here is answer for exercise you have given. 1) Bodyguards protect the rich and famous –Rich and famous are protected by bodyguards. 2) Bad weather delayed our flight to Rome. The football game was organised by my brother. 5) The doctor examined my chest. My chest was examined by the doctor. 6) The gardener cut the lawn and trimmed the bushes. The lawn was cut and the bushes were trimmed by gardener. 7) Gloves protect your hands from the cold. Your hands are protected from cold by gloves. 8) The child broke a glass vase. A glass vase is broken by the child.

About the PE: I want to say Capueira is so very much important for Brazil culture, because of this, PE in University create class to teach Capueira. I re-write this part using passive voice too. Hi Trudi, this is exactly what I am doing at the moment - trying to get the passive voice into my brother's head. If he doesn't pass his English test tomorrow, he will be kicked out of university. Sad but true. You are right, when February came to an end it meant lots of spare time to me which otherwise would have been spent on blogging. For those who want to be a blogger – if you are very busy working or doing other things, you might want to consider starting writing your future blogs right now to save your time when you actually become a blogger! So what am I doing? I started going to the gym to get my muscles toned and strong :) And of course wedding preparations. Hi, Trudi! Hope you are well and have had a little rest this weekend. I was happier because the only thing which I have had to do was learning English. I spent my weekend with English books and their arms around each other (I don’t know can I say so?). I really want to pass my exam in June! I like your short review about Orwell’s books, especially the phrase about “clever use of language”: I really want to know what it is, so I am going to reread Orwell in English. I usually too lazy read serious books in language which I don’t know very well, so mostly I am reading Stephen King’s books and my favorite author Haruki Murakami. No, I am a liar, the last book which I have read was a criminal book of an American author. The book I had read before was Colum Mc Cann’s “Dancer”: it is about Rudy Nureyew, Russian ballet dancer. I am a fan of ballet, if anybody remembers. Tomorrow will be 17 March; it is the St. Patrick’s Day in Ireland. Old chap Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland. King Laoghaire was stunned once listening to an explanation of St. Patrick about the Trinity – three faces of God whish he had made with the help of shamrock. It has had three leaves just like God had three personals – The Father, The Son and The Holy Ghost. It is easy, isn’t it? So tomorrow all Ireland will be enjoying by an annual parade and to continue celebrating all week through. Irish people like celebrations. Me too. Sometimes. Have more rest, Trudi. Bye.

Hi Trudi. I’m a new comer to blog section. I’v been enjoying of high quality BBCLE site for two and a half month only. BBCLE site in general turned out to be the most attractive way to learn English for me. I’ve attended Talk about English, Weekender, London life, People and places then, fortunately, I was lured by the banner to take a look at «what people writing about». Hello Trudi :-) Thank you for your exercise on passive voice. I decided to take the bull by the horns and do it. I got my teeth into and rewrite the active sentences in passive tense. I'm not going to write my answers in the comment as some other students have just given the answers. With one exception that I found the most interesting (= most difficult) 'The lawn was cut and the bushes were trimmed by the gardener'. I’m not feeling the worse for wear but because I need some shut-eye, I'm not going to burn the midnight oil. Best wishes!

Hi Trudi, After submitting as assignment you must be a relieved woman now. I had these kinds of experiences when I was a student at the college. After my marriage I have never studied anything or written any assignment after 10.30. You are really a wonderful teacher and a committed student. My wife is a teacher in Physics. Sometimes I think about how difficult it would be to look after children, finishing the house work and preparing the lessons. I really hat off the women who are working as well as looking after the children. Sometimes my wife will burst out if I don’t help her to maintain house hold works. Do you have these kind experiences from your husband or will he always supportive when you badly need of his help.
