Hello from Kuala Lumper

Hi, my name is Tricia and I'm writing this from my home in Malaysia. This is my first time blogging and I feel both excited and a little bit scared!

I'll start by introducing myself; I'm British but have lived in Malaysia for about 25 years. As you can probably guess, there is a reason for making my home here and that is because my husband, Mustapha is Malaysian. As I'm sure that they will appear in my blog, I should also mention my children, Hannah and Danial. They are both teenagers, so I'll try not to embarrass them too much!

I'm a teacher trainer and work for the British Council in Kuala Lumpur. As a lot of my work involves training teachers and supervising training courses, I get to travel a lot in this region and sometimes further. I've just got back from two weeks in Cairo which was fascinating.

But it's always great to come home and I realise that the older I get the more important it is to me. Of course I still have a home in England but that's my parents' home which is also important to me but in a different way and for different reasons.

I'm really looking forward to hearing from you. Perhaps you can start by telling me about your home and your feelings about it?

Tricia

Hello Tricia! I am one of the new blog's readers.I have been reading this blog since the middle of september. Now I am eager to read your tips&tricks and learn useful phrases. In my opinion this website gives practical information to learners. Thanks a lot to BBC Services for this free opportunity to improve our English language knowleage. I am looking forward to reading your blog.

Hi Tricia I am Chittisa, a student blogger of this month. It is nice to know you.I am Thai.I am not sure if you have ever been to Thailand before but I bet you would like our country if you come to visit us. As you mention your family, I think it would be better to let you know mine as well.My family consists of Me,my dad, my mom and my younger sister.I am 22 years old and my lovely (probably not:p)sister is 19. How about your children? What ages are they? My dad have already retired and my mom has been working for one of the sugar companies in Thailand. As I told in my first blog that I am a graduated student who are going to start working while my sister has been studying Accounting in the University. well, I think that is enough for the beginning. We have loads of time to know each other better. Looking forward to hearing from you Regards Chittisa

Hi, Tricia Welcome to BBC Blogging. I've been an anthusiast on this site since Rachel & Lewis. Almost everyday I never miss to read the blogging. So far I learnt much from it. I hope, during your session I will learn much, too.

Hi Tricia, It´s nice to meet you!!!. My name is Pablo. It´s very interesting to know people who are so far from their countries. But as you says, You consider Malaysia as your new home. however, I think that HOME is where your family is. I live in Andalucia, in the south of Spain, but I have been living on my own for ten years, because my job is in another city where I was born and where my family lives. I also love travel a lot. Sometimes I think this is the reason why I enlisted in the Navy, but I miss my family too. I know a lot of cities all over the world but the south-east of Asia. Perhaps you can tell us something about it... See you by now.

hi,i am really glad to read your blog .Actually,i was interested in this english teacher blog when i occasionally read it on BBC web. i just hope to continue to look at some useful english from today's post. This style is very important for me,which can study some authentic english expression from here.

Hi tricia, this is the first time i have gone into a strange peson to read and send my comment. Truly speaking, i'm very happy to see this blog in the website of the BBC. For a long time, I have been dying for a web to meet an English teacher as well as a friend like you to share my teaching expriences and hear your advice. You know, I live in vietnam, I am a tacher of English at upper secondary school. I think the blog in Vietnam is not as popular as in your country. So i hope you will read my comment and that is the best way for me to improve my English.See you later
