Hole 16 at Royal Troon
Well, 542 yards, par five

Ken Brown
By Ken Brown
BBC TV golf commentator

If there's any breeze at all, only the bravest of the brave will try to carry the canal which runs across the fairway at about 283 yards.

Tiger Woods in his round of 64 in 1997 hit a three-iron and then driver off the floor and holed the putt, but the longer the drive, the narrower the fairway.

Most players will take two irons and then pitch to the narrow green which is heavily bunkered.

Because it is a par five it's one of the easier holes to birdie on the merciless back nine.

Named after a nearby fresh water well.
