Hole 6 at Royal Troon
Turnberry, 601 yards, par five

Ken Brown
By Ken Brown
BBC TV golf commentator

The longest hole on the Open rota, it plays down breeze and nearly everyone will hit a driver to give themselves a chance of reaching the front in two.

Two deep bunkers lurk left, and it is amazing how the ball tends to get gobbled up by those, so you've got to drive quite tight to the right-hand bunker.

The second shot with a fairway wood needs to be aimed slightly left of the right bunker, avoiding thick rough down the right.

The green is narrow with out-of-bounds at the back. The bunker to the left of the green is one of the deepest on the course.

A very birdieable hole with two big accurate hits but get out of position and you'll see sixes and sevens.

The hole is named after the point at Turnberry which can be seen.
