Hole 5 at Royal Troon
Greenan, 210 yards, par three

Ken Brown
By Ken Brown
BBC TV golf commentator

Big grandstands shelter the tee but the green is one of the most exposed parts of the course, vulnerable to hard cross winds.

Four big bunkers guard the green to catch the careless flag chasers.

Anything from a two-iron to a five-iron to anywhere on the green gives you no more than a 30-foot putt but missing right sends the ball down a steep bank.

Named after an old Kennedy Castle ruin just south of Ayr.
