Hole 3 at Royal Troon
Gyaws, 379 yards, par four

Ken Brown
By Ken Brown
BBC TV golf commentator

Most players will lay up in front of the small burn 285 yards off the tee.

The left bunkers are a danger from the undulating fairway which can kick balls off at odd angles.

The green slopes front to back so it is important to hit the fairway off the tee in order to generate some spin and therefore hold with your approach.

An easy par four which should yield plenty of birdies.

Named after an old Scottish word for drain or canal.
