Hole 10 at Royal Troon
Sandhills, 438 yards, par four

Ken Brown
By Ken Brown
BBC TV golf commentator

The first hole back into the prevailing wind. Players must drive blind over the crest of the hill, working out the line off the tee to hit the right part of the angled fairway.

Though the fairway is bunkerless that doesn't make the hole any easier - gorse catches balls running through the fairway to the right, while a large depression guards those short on the left.

Rarely do you get a flat stance for the second shot, played uphill to an elevated green which gathers on the front left but kicks off on the right. If it disappears down the hill you're in the all sorts of trouble.

Named after the large sandhills that face you from the championship tee.
