Hole 18 at Oakland Hills
494 yards, par four

Ken Brown
By Ken Brown
BBC TV golf commentator

There is a tough decision to make from the tee.

The choice is either keep tight down the right-hand side or play a fade shot - left-to-right - so it holds into the slope because all the tee shots will kick to the left.

With that decision made it is best to use a three-wood or go with a driver.

It is the hardest hole on the course because the green is only 20-yards deep and it slopes viciously from back to front.

Anything going beyond the flag in certain areas will just carry on rolling, possibly for as far as 35 feet.

It will be very difficult with the approach shot to leave the ball close to the flag for a birdie chance.

A lot of players will happy just to take a four on a hole that may decide the outcome of quite a few matches.
