Hole 8 at Oakland Hills
482 yards, par four

Ken Brown
By Ken Brown
BBC TV golf commentator

This is probably the toughest driving hole on the golf course.

If you can get the tee shot down the right-hand side of the fairway, which will be very difficult, then it will give you a better view of the green.

If you drive down the left you don't get a view.

The second shot is up the hill to a green. It has a pimple in the centre with flat areas around the edge, so it will prove difficult to get at the flag.

Many will adopt a long-iron second shot which is likely to skid on the green upon landing and all a player should try to do is find the putting surface in two shots and not aim for the flag.

A par four would almost be a winning score in a matchplay situation.
