Hole 12 at Oakland Hills
560 yards, par five

Ken Brown
By Ken Brown
BBC TV golf commentator

This is reachable in two, but only for the very longest of hitters.

If the fairway is missed altogether, avoiding the bunkers on the left and the trees all the way down the right is essential.

Should the ball end up in one of the bunkers, then playing a chip on to the fairway is the best option.

From the fairway it is possible to get somewhere near the putting surface with the second shot, although most players will lay up and use a full wedge.

The green itself is divided in two, a high level on the right and a low level on the left.

It is a very slopey green that faces you and the bunkers around have got particularly high lips.

The green is only 15 yards deep, so there is quite a narrow putting surface and it is likely they will tuck the flag away in a tough spot.
