473 yards, par fourThis is a pretty straight hole and the only tee shot on the course where there is no sand.
There is an element of links-like play and the hole has a fairly flattish fairway, which compared to the rest of the course is quite easy to hit.
Landing in the preferred area on the green is another matter.
The result of the long-iron shot will often see the ball end up 30 yards from where intended.
The ball will land at the front of the green and then skid to the back and end up in a hollow which acts like a magnet.
It is a hole where it is very difficult to pick up a shot. At the 1996 US Open there were only a couple dozen birdies during the week.
