"For the last 12 years I have listened regularly to Radio 4 whilst working in my studio. My paintings are works of imagination and I find the more engaged I am with a radio play or discussion programme the better my work tends to flow. The starting point for the painting I have attached came from it's title 'The Art of Looking Sideways', (which I stole from the title of a book, that I probably heard of on radio 4). It depicts what I am trying to say, that to be creative means to be engaged on all sorts of different levels at once; that creativity is not a linear process. Engaging with my favourite programmes on Radio 4 helps me come at the work from the side."
