Jo Barry
Jo Barry"It is my absent family, providing interest and amusement and company without demanding to know where its clean underwear is or if it can have a lift somewhere."

How else can one wake up in the morning? The Today programme is wonderful and starts earlier than ever and is six days a week. Do I miss it on Sunday.

And the presenters are kind to anyone trying to put over information and maybe on the radio for the first time. They are only tough on politicians who won't answer direct questions.

I work from home, mostly on my own. Radio 4 is on constantly.

It is my absent family providing interest and amusement and company without demanding to know where its clean underwear is or if it can have a lift somewhere.

It is like being able to listen in on really interesting conversations.

It is a way of knowing what it going on in the outside world while I have my head down working.

It is having the world in there with you without it getting in the way.
Jo Barry was born in Kent and now lives and works in the New Forest. She primarily does line and aquatint etchings of the surrounding countryside, where wild ponies, donkeys, sheep, cattle, deer and pigs roam. Barry can walk or ride a quarter of a mile from her home and feel completely lost in the meadows and forests.
