Michael Clarke
Michael Clarke
Born: 2/4/81
Team: New South Wales
Test debut: -
ODI debut: v England, Adelaide, 2002/03

Right-handed batsman
Slow left-arm bowler

Clarke can consider himself genuinely fortunate to get a place on a senior Australian touring squad at such a young age.

Most Australians these days have to wait until they are around 30 before getting a look-in.

But having hit seven Pura Cup centuries, Clarke is primed for the fast track.

The selectors have watched the Sydneysider's progress closely over the years.

And he may be viewed as a potential future captain. He skippered the under-19 squad which travelled to Sri Lanka for the Youth World Cup in 2000.

Clarke's slight build means he relies on timing rather than aggression to hit boundaries, and he also bowls some slow left-arm spin.
