Harvey only snuck into the World Cup as a late replacement after Shane Watson was confirmed as having a stress fracture in his back.
Despite being on the fringes of the team, he still made six appearances during the tournament, taking eight wickets at 19.6 apiece and averaging 22 with the bat.
But the Gloucestershire all-rounder was clearly overshadowed by the histrionics of many of his team-mates on their way to World Cup victory and is unlikely to be a regular starter in the Caribbean.
Chief selector Trevor Hohns believes he has "the potential to be a match-winner" for Australia, which he has already done at domestic level in both England and Australia.
He made his international debut in December 1997 and, although his performances in 49 starts have been unspectacular so far, he has never let Australia down.
The 31-year-old varies his pace intelligently with the ball, and is capable of useful runs in the lower middle order.
He has come close to a half-century against the Windies previously, hitting an unbeaten 47 versus them during the one-dayers in 2001.
