For much of his career George Bradley Hogg has been considered a one-day bits-and-pieces player.
His only Test so far came in 1996, on a tour of India dominated by one-day internationals.
But his inclusion for the Test portion of this tour is recognition that Hogg has developed, in the one-day game at least, to the stature of high-class spinner.
Hogg took the opportunity offered by Shane Warne's shoulder injury to break back into the national side, taking 12 wickets in the VB Series and hitting 71 not out in the second final against England.
And Warne's early exit from the World Cup allowed him to impress at the highest level, at 32 staking a claim for further honours.
Hogg's brand of left-arm wrist spin makes him an almost unique proposition in the international game.
And he also possesses a vicious top-spinner, which shocks batsmen with its increased pace.
