MARCUS TRESCOTHICK
Left-hand batsman; right-arm medium bowler

FACTFILE
Marcus Trescothick
DOB: 25.12.1975
Team: Somerset
Test debut: v West Indies, Old Trafford 2000
ODI debut: v Zimbabwe, The Oval 2000

Trescothick has found touring a great deal harder than playing on home soil during his England career to date.

A trifle too impatient on wickets in the sub-continent, he was then unsettled by the Australian seamers on the quick wickets Down Under a year ago.

While the left-hander will always be susceptible to deliveries leaving him outside off-stump, he has now begun to leave plenty alone in the early stages of a Test innings.

In the one-day arena, he remains one of the fastest scorers in the game and once his eye is in can play some murderous shots against spinners.

Trescothick donned the gloves for England in one-day cricket on occasions, and is the reserve wicket-keeper if required.
