FACTFILE
Matthew Hoggard
DOB: 31.12.76
Team: Yorkshire
Test debut: v West Indies, Lord's 2000
ODI debut:v Zimbabwe, Harare 2001

Matthew Hoggard has returned to the England set-up after missing most of the summer recovering from surgery to a torn knee cartilage.

The fast bowler endured a torrid winter in Australia and was a bystander during the World Cup.

He bounced back with three wickets against Zimbabwe in the first Test at Lord's, and looked back at his best, before suffering the injury that kept him out of action until the end of the summer.

Once seen as a potential successor to Darren Gough, Hoggard has lost ground in the last year.

He needs a good winter to re-establish his claim to lead England's pace attack now that young rivals have appeared on the scene.
