I set quizzes quite often and just love to pop in the odd question about Captain Pugwash just to see the disbelief when its revealed that it was Tom the Cabin Boy and not Roger...some of these myths are so entrenched but they are always the ones you want to believe. Like alligators in the NY sewers or that OAP in 'Norwich' calling up saying someone's robbing his shed, the police do nothing because they're too busy elsewhere, so he calls up to say don't bother I've just shot them. The Police are round in 2 minutes. Thought you'd shot a man they say. Thought you were busy, he says. Priceless urban legend material!

We invent gas central 'eating.... For all to enjoy.... Then greed sets in with BIG companies.... In turn prices go so 'igh that are we 'eading that soon only the wealthy will be able ter 'eat their 'omes??????)

Oh I yeah.....

What with the crazy 'igh cost of gas.... I was contemplating last night buy 2 extra duvets for night rather than put the me central 'eating on at night!!!!!!!

A double bed but 2 king size dubets at 9 quid each sounds value for me!!!!!!!!!

They will be my best PJ's!!!!!!!!

And now sadly the extra news of 'is coach being more seriously injured!!!!!!



I just wonder why is the a kind of break down of respect for others in modern britain.... It does seem that way nowadays from the road rage I witness from the windscreen of my car & truck & without a windscreen on me cycle!!!!!



A few lessons that pop into mind are firstly a still do not understand why we put the clocks back ter make it get darker earlier!!!!!!!!

Utter MADNESS!!!!!!!!!!

Just the other night I completed my ride at 4.30 just as it was getting dark and I felt at 'igher risk on the road!!!!!!!

Secondly alot of cycle clubs their colours are dark like dark red and back - more utter MADNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've noticed this alot while out and about in my car & truck!!!!!!

When ever i'm out cycling I ALWAYS if on the road wear a 'i-viz vest, white trainers and 'ave not one but 2 rear flashing lights, a front flashing light.... reflectors front and rear.... Reflectors on my pedals (something I insisted on a few weeks ago after 'aving a full new crank & pedal set fitted after bending me old ones doing Chris 'oy starts in top gear)..... So all in all I make present myself by making my presence present by presenting myself in a 'ighly presentable visablness of visability abitlity!!!!!!!!



Some cyclists I 'ave seen out in black AND with no lights at NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do wonder are they purposely trying ter end it all due to 'igh cycle repair costs????@?



A just wish everyone would be nicer to their fellow Brit and calm down when they get onter the road!!!!!!

#38 - Zoe - I can't think of anything off Ivor's albums that COULD be played on DT. Even to suggest one would risk breaking the * key to render the title acceptable. What about NEXT Friday - how much would you have to pledge to be successful ?



#39 - I suspect the photo is misleading - it was obviously taken in summer. Nonetheless, it isn't a good example to set when cyclists are so vulnerable. They need to take some responsibilities for their own safety - it isn't all down to the motorists. I cycle at times and always wear hi-vis things. I've also done a lot of horse riding on the road and apply the same responsibilities there especially when an animal's life is at risk if drivers become frustrated with irresponsible riders' behaviour.

Often the batteries ave nearly run out of juice that's why those lights become dim!!!!!!!!

I meself 'ave gotta fine set with the latest technology of flashing led lights... I've tested them and standing back from a distance they're really bright.

I carry a spare set of batteries with me and also i've got TWO flashing rear lights!!!!!!!

In fact am so bright... A few times ave come around a corner at speed and a car coming in the opposite direction 'as slammed on due to suddenly thinking am an emergency vehicle what with me bright flashing front light!!!!!!

On top of this a often put me 'and behind me ter chack the flash near me rear.... Just ter check me batteries are nice!!!!!!!

On top of this a keep me lenses and reflectors clean!!!!!!!!!!!



Am not boasting or saying am an overly nice cyclist.... All am saying is it just takes simple common sense!!!!!!!!



PS When a was 12 a got so fed up of cars cutting me up... A fitted me bicycle with a FULL blast red air 'orn!!!!!!!!!!

If ever a got cut up.... The driver gotta 'eart attack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In fact a enjoyed getting cut up then!!!!!!

Good Evening All



I have written many times on this blog that the most wonderful time of day is when I play Keyboard – and the reason for this is - because the day has been fine – no traumas. In the song from 1884 –

“Love’s Old Sweet Song” they talk of “Sad the day and long” but when I play at the end of the day – it’s because we’ve had a Good Day – Thank You God – and All Is Well.



Tonight we called out the Emergency Vet. Our 13 year old cat seems to have had a seizure/fit -and, of course the vet cannot tell whether that is so – from a home visit – is it a mini stroke or if it is only an ear infection or worse - a brain tumour -unless we take him to the Surgery and have him subjected to tests. Now – he doesn’t travel well – to put it mildly – he will scratch at his cage and will make his claws raw. The alternatives are too many to list. We shall have to see what happens overnight and then confer with the Vet tomorrow.



Listen out from a wise one ……



If things are good – enjoy them while you may.



If things are not good – “Strive to be Happy!”

Good Morning All



Congratulations to Queen Amelia! A blogger takes the crown once more - how lovely!



Well I passed the first aid course, so I can carry on handing out plasters for another three years. It wasn't a walkover by any means - there are so many little things you have to remember... I guess at the end of the day though as long as you can keep the casualty as comfortable as possible (and hopefully alive!) until professional help is available then you've done your job. It's a very worthwhile skill to have - I would recommed it to anyone.



Billie - so sorry to hear about your poor mogpoppet. Hope today brings better news.



Debs - lovely to 'see' you over this side of the fence. And I look forward to seeing you for real next Friday! Yes, I've heard how shy and retiring you are...

Well its finally happened. My first James Bond film and in the words of Craig Revel Horwood (although I dont know how many Die Hard fans, will have heard of him, its a strictly Strictly thing!!) ......



I didn't mind it actually!!



For those, that haven't yet been to see it, not giving a single hint of the plot away, except to say, that I loved the baddie and am going off to google now, to see what else he may have been in.



A very soggy oggy morning here, but its not going to spoil plans, wellies and waterproofs and away we go.

Well, that was another rather splendid afternoon. Took a colleague back to see Skyfall and loved it all over again.

Good Evening Everybody.



Thank you all so much for your kind thoughts and good wishes for PepperCat. It has been a long 24 hours.



After last night’s vet’s home visit we took him to the vets this morning. The consensus is that it wasn’t a stroke nor a seizure. The HOPE is that it is an inner ear infection – a severe one which has affected his balance – hence the walking against a wall and the going round in circles. The worst case scenario is that it is a Brain Tumour. He has been dosed with Steroids and Antibiotics – for the IEI - long lasting slow release ones that should see him through next week and we hope to see an improvement. If there isn’t any improvement – or he gets worse – he will need more tests and then, of course, decisions will have to be made.



Anyone who has ever “owned” – as if we do – any animal – will know that when they are ill – the hardest thing is - that they can’t communicate their stress/pain. Then the “owner” experiences utter helplessness. We want to do what’s best for them but how do WE know what’s best?



This morning there was little, if any, improvement in Pepper. Questions – Do we take him to the vets this morning? Do we leave it ‘til Monday? He HATES going in his carrier. Will the stress cause him to have a Heart Attack? Will the stress cause US to have a Heart Attack? If we don’t take him to avoid the stress what if he takes a turn for the worse? As I said above we took him.



Then – at the vets – we actually laughed out loud – the vet wanted to see how he was walking – so he walked! All around the room – investigating cupboards and bins – then when put back up on the examination table – he decided to investigate what was going on outside the window!



When we got back home we laughed again – he walked to the kitchen - slightly disorientated - and ate – just a little – then he went to sleep.



He has slept a lot this afternoon – sometimes looking comfy – sometimes not – but just now – while I’ve been typing this – he’s done his drunken trip to the kitchen again and eaten just a little.



Wow! He’s just climbed up on the sofa to get a cuddle from Mr.! Wow! Inner Ear Infection? Please God it is!

Shall I KB just a couple of mellow tunes?



And Supper? We haven't even Christened Supper?



Egg & Chips?

Fingers crossed Billie! Hopefully the medicines will kick in soon and he will continue to improve.....x.
