Very funny to watch and totally inspired!

#31 Deebee - thanks for the tip, parking was indeed a nightmare. We had a lovely day - it was beautifully sunny and hot, and Cambridge looked stunning as ever. GoodBoy#1 was a bit daunted beforehand (supposed that's only normal), but ended up having a great day and once he got chatting to the other people there, didn't feel like it was "all Chariots of Fire and Brideshead" {Funny that he's never actually watched either of those, but still quotes them as stereotypes!} . Now he just needs to work hard to get those grades! Good luck to your two in the new term.

#53 Deebee, I loved Moonlighting! Other particular favourites include Blake 7. I just loved Avon (aka Paul Darrow). Dallas and Dr Who would be included as well but they have made a comeback.



Ooh and not forgetting The High Chapperal. I remember begging my parents to let me stay up until 9pm on Monday nights to watch it. I was 18 at the time ;)) (Just kidding)

#53 I haven't seen The West Wing either, Deebee and agree with you re Soldier Soldier. I miss programmes like Ashes To Ashes, Life On Mars, Lovejoy, and I loved the 'old' Dallas, too, Shona. I can remember racing home from school to watch Grange Hill when the likes of Trisha Yates and Tucker Jenkins were in it. As a young teen I loved 'Angels' the series about young student nurses, I think Fiona Fullerton was in that.



Deebee, Master Coddle comes home for a belated birthday celebration, but then he goes back on sunday and his sister returns to university on Monday, so I can sympathise with the empty nest feeling. *although at the moment I don't like the transitory phase when the packing goes on for days, stuff everywhere!*

We used to go to my Uncle's house to watch The High Chapperal because it was on BBC2 and we didn't have that channel. 'Blue' was my pin-up from that series.



Secret confession coming up - I used to like Jeux sans frontiers/It's a knockout - innocent fun with Stuart Hall's infectious enthusiasm hyping it up - confession over.

#65 Smee - I used to watch Thirtysomething, I liked it at the time, and as I am now actually thirtysomething, it might chime even more with me.



I watched an old episode of Frasier this morning, and I miss that, and Seinfeld, and The Larry Sanders show, but I wouldn't have wanted them to go on and on and keep flogging a dead horse. I have many of these shows on DVD and it's nice to revisit them once in a while, I don't think I'd like any of them to be revived now though, as it rarely works and it's better to keep the memory of the show you loved intact.

Zoe - me too & thank you for the explanation! Not sure if better or worse than the onesie.

There was a kids programme, I think in the 90s, a bit like a forerunner to the Crystal Maze (not the moral maze as I just typed), lots of running about, solving puzzles, set on a space station or something and one of the presenters turned into a plant. I sometimes wonder if I dreamt it as no one remembers it.



Remember that painting the Spanish woman ruined and made look like a monkey? Well apparently it has become a tourist attraction and she is demanding her share of the revenue!

I used to love It's a Knockout too. Stuart Hall's laugh was just so infectious.



Grange Hill, Biker Grove, Magic Roundabout, Mr Benn, Mary Mungo and Midge, Captain Pugwash, Willow the Wisp, Andy Pandy, Hector's House were also among my favs. I used to love the 5 minute programme just before the boring old news at teatime came on.

Amelia, was that 'The Adventure Game' your thinking about? I remember it too. I tend not to 'miss' programmes too much as hubbs has buckets of them on DVD (Fraiser, Moonlighting, Blakes 7, etc.) I giggled so much when in the last episode of the recent season of CSI LV it turned out Sam Malone was married to Roz Doyle :-)

I enjoyed the Thorn Birds although I think I preferred the book.



There was another Friday night series called For the Love of Lydia; dont really remember much about it except the title.

Agree with Zoe that lots of stuff is of it's time. I loved Northern Exposure but seems really dated when watching the box set now.



Someone actually wrote a letter to Wittertainment today. Simon gave out what he guessed was the postcode, I'm sure he said W12 8QT which was very evocative. I remember sitting on the bedroom floor with the telephone repeatedly dialling 01 811 8055 on a Saturday morning for Swap Shop.

Gazza - I need to read posts before replying. I don't remember chocy but of course I remember Why Don't You Just Switch Off Your Television Set and Go and Do Something Less Boring Instead? Russell T Davies was involved for a bit. I remember it coming from Glasgow and I think Northern Ireland too.



I still feel the need to shout Crackerjack at the beginning of ARF.

amelia-chocky if i remember was a si-fi type of programme which had a boy i think he was chocky, there was another programme i remember called cockleshell bay that was on all the time.

Bright here, but Autumn is definitely on the way - the leaves are turning. Off out later to pick some blackberries - the hedgerows round here are absolutely full of them.



Loving the TV show reminiscing (sp?). The Thorn Birds - oh my goodness yes, Richard Chamberlain as the Catholic priest who falls in love with a young girl... I agree with Amelia though, the book was far better. I lost count of the number of times I read it, but it would probably seem quite dated now. Northern Exposure was a favourite in our house too.

Gazza - #80/83 -



"Chocky" was a childrens' sci-fi series based on the book by John Wyndham. Matthew was a boy with what seemed to be an imaginary friend but turns out to be Chocky - an alien who communicates with Matthew's mind and could talk through him. It was quite scary. The book was too.

Still feeling a bit dopey today, but slept really well last night - lazy day in order I think.



I loved Thornbirds - it's usually on S*y somewhere and it does seem quite dated now. I also liked Richard Chamberlain in Shogun, many moons ago.

It has been a really beautiful day here - clear sky and stunning panoramic views while driving about. We could even see - from North Anglesey - the sand on the beaches of the Llandudno area - Snowdonia was wonderfully clear - all the nooks and crannies!



It has not been as hectic as the past few weeks. We're settling in and can see the proverbial light! Broadband is still unreliable - may need help.



Home-made Fishy Pizza tonight - we call it a "Florence" because she detests the thought of it! I'm hoping to KB a few tunes before watching Gary & Crew - we've missed 2 weeks!



@ Julia -having read back - I can't remember what I played on the days that you asked but I will take note tonight and post it tomorrow. Ha!



The only other interesting thing - lovely though - is that the cats are tentatively (sp?) exploring their new surroundings. Scarey!

Jennie - No. We can't see the sea from here. There is a Ring Road - 5025 - which circles the island - and from many locations on that - one can see the sea. We are more inland - and although Anglesey is considered to be a flat island - there are peaks and troughs - and when you're on one of those peaks - "Pen"s - you can see for miles.

And, from our new home, if we were stouthearted and wellbooted we might be able to reach the sea in about 15 mins. This is according to a OS map - we haven't tried it yet. Ha!
