Touching toes

Simon Mayo|09:38 UK time, Tuesday, 12 June 2012

Greetings from the estate, where even the foxes are too wet to bother being a pest. After a morning with top chap Paul Gambaccini, I'd been walking around for so long and got so wet that I had to find a hair dryer to dry my shoes and socks. Body heat seems enough to gently strew the dampness from most clothing but footwear needs stronger action. So I stood in the gym heating my shoes feeling only slightly stupid but, eventually, had toasty feet. An evening in the theatre was on the cards so couldn't face the thought of moist toes. Today is starting in pretty much the same way with that pesky jet stream which is normally doing it's thing much further north but has swung south and is sucking up air and then leaving us with big winds and torrential rain. Thanks a lot.

The theatre trip was to see tonight's guest Omid Djalili in Joe Orton's What The Butler Saw. Haven't seen a farce for years but had a great time with a top cast including Tim McInnerny and Samantha Bond. The full frontal was a shock (I'd gone with child 2) but iI recovered swiftly and pretended nothing had happened. Omid from 6 (he keeps his clothes on).

And oldies please for the oldest yoga teacher in the world who is Tao Porchon-Lynch and is 93. And is flexible and nimble and everything we all want to be now, never mind at 93. Off you go now.

Have a bendy and pliant Tuesday, see you after 5

    Hello all,

Grey cold and damp here, having rained for about 24 hrs yesterday - I hear it's nice in the North though - nice change!

    Tweeted these:

Or of course anything by ELBOW or THE POSERS

Will go and research those two see if there's anything appropriate..

Course 'The LOTUS eaters' did a song called 'IT HURTS' which might be appropriate for some of us who think Yoga is as easy as it was when we were young and then do an early morning session while on a St Lucia holiday that was absolutely CRIPPLING - but that's probably just me...

From yesterday's blog - Hoffs #136 yes, I watched 'Britain in a day' last night. Absolutely fascinating, and very cleverly done. Just one gripe though - why do they always depict 'religious' people (loathe that word, but I can't think of another right now) as slightly batty? Some of us are quite normal, you know...

It's still something of an inconvenience though.

The red flashing circle is almost in Jeremy Vine territory (quite different from the flasher Lord Ammo & child 2 encountered last night). Read his (JV's) book at the weekend. It was raining when I woke up, as I blogged with you lovelies earlier it was raining, on the way to my hair appointment it continued to rain, my shiny new bob (a la Billie if you will!) got drizzled on, my shopping trip was a rather wet affair, home now for lunch and watching the rain as I type and eat home made chicken and spring veg soup, now off to walk the hound and guess what .... it's still blimmin' raining!

Will someone take pity and send some blue sky this way?

    ;)

  • Comment number 71.

In the evening, at about 8ish, mum fox brings her 2 cubs into the garden to see if any peanuts have fallen out of the feeders.     Afternoon All;

Well, O.M.G as they (the young folk) say! You may (or may not) recall, that when I blogged this morning, I was waiting for the mr to return with the twins, after collecting them from respite. I thought they were taking a while getting back, but didn't think that anything was amiss, until I got a call from the mr to say that they were all o.k, but that they'd been in an accident, and two of the tyres were punctured (he couldn't see any other damage) So, I ended up having a ride in a police car to go and help get the twins home, as they were very distressed, and not able to understand what had happened due to their disabilities.

What a day! All is calm and settled now, and South Yorkshire police were fantastic. The damage to the car was minimal, and no-one was hurt, so it's count your blessings time, methinks.

#44 Autumn Gale - I did watch True Blood S5 01 last night, and I agree with your assessment. It was very messy, with too many characters and storylines competing for airtime (again). Not even the sight of Eric in his 'birthday suit' could compensate for the rest of the dire stuff. I think this show has lost the plot, and more than that, I don't really care about any of the characters any more. I'll give it a few more episodes, before I decide whether to pull the plug, but next to Game of Thrones (which ended it's S2 run last week) it's pretty weak in comparison.

Going to try and calm my nerves now, maybe I could do with a bit of Yoga... ;-)

Oh dear, Zoe. Spotted your tweet a few moments ago and wondered about the detail. Horrible experience for the Mr, too, whilst carrying such precious cargo.

As Billie says: In the blink of an eye ...

Thank the heavens above and the powers that decree these things that they're all fine and safe back home.

Nice to see JBG back today, I haven't seen a note from him yet though!
