Hope Mr Mayo's last school run went well. I absolutely agree that on the whole its a pretty special time of day. Its that time when your children know that they have you all to themselves and can ask you that particularly tricky question that they have been meaning to ask for ages. We too have music 'discussions' - although the odd story CD does get thrown into the mix and the Fishermen's Friends CD that lives permanently in the car for the days when we can't agree on what we should listen to. We are lucky enough to to have some pretty beautiful scenery to drive through too. Mr Mayo, if you are ever feeling the need to do a school run, I am sure that you would be very welcome to the three Hoffs boys for a morning!

Child #2 (son and heir) is running in the Edinburgh marathon this weekend - in aid of the BHF (his dad died of a heart attack at 49) - and no, I did not help with his training APART from nagging him to get a check-up at the docs and washing the kit (held at arms length) - BUT he is of course grateful for the donations I & my friends are making to his justgiving site....finally appreciation in the form of cold hard cash.

I hate getting lost, it makes me quite panicky if I don't know where I'm going. I have satnav now, but I always used to try and memorise the route if I was going somewhere on my own and had nobody to give me directions. Once I got completely lost in the centre of Birmingham (I'm just a country girl). I ended up going down a one way street, and was faced with an ambulance coming towards me, lights blazing. Scary...

Why has it taken me so long to post? I was at the Wittertainment Robert Redford thing, it was fantastic and it made me decide to get more involved I’ve always read Simon’s bit but not the comments, I tend to avoid the “bottom half of the internet”. Simon’s warm remarks about you should have made me realise I had nothing to fear.

A warm welcome to all new bloggers. I have just about finished my first 12 months probation here and have to admit it is a very friendly place to be.

#61 that must have been scary indeed Deebee. I managed to get lost yesterday and ended up going through a ford, as my car is quite 'low' I was panicking the whole way through that it was going to choke and die any moment!

#96 I love 'Coupling' Deebee - a work of genius from Stephen Moffat - I have the DVDs and watch them regularly.



I had a colleague at a previous school who used the word "actually" all the time. Frustrating and funny in equal measure; infamously in one 2 minute monologue he used it 27 times!

#93 I heard the podcast of that show, Wendy - it was very good. Although they did seem rather nervous that Robert Redford would turn up on time, as he has a reputation for being late.



#97 A friend of ours wrote off a nearly-new BMW (other makes of car also available...) by driving it through a ford and flooding the engine.
