I took my mum to the Chelsea flower show a few years ago as she had always wanted to go....very disapointed, it was too crowded to linger and look at the winning gardens. The whole show much much smaller than the TV coverage portrays. The courtyard gardens were the size of my understair cupboard and the main gardens about the size of my kitchen!

I couldn't believe the Chelsea Flower Show is on this week as it seems quite early, or is it always on in May? I suppose that although it's very early for some plants and flowers, the exhibitors bring/force everything on very early.

LITTLE GREEN by Joni Mitchell might be a nice change from her Chels*a morning tune and avoid the DT dude having to say the word..

Never been to Chelsea Flower show but did go one year to the show at Hampton Court. Came away with lots of ideas but as we only had a town house with a courtyard garden at that time it was difficult to put many ideas into practice.

We now have a cottage on the edge of a village and have started realising our dreams of creating an English Country garden, albeit in a foreign land.

#47 took my mum too, 2003 I think, yes, it was v busy and the show gardens were Soooo small - AND I dropped my camera in the portaloo (a real wet film camera, esp afterwards..) but it was lovely. I was inspired. To go home and gravel my pocket handkerchief of lawn, put in big pots, blousy flowers, garden lights and a water feature. I think the garden sold my house for me actually!

I can't go again though, until I win the lottery and buy a house with a bigger garden. The current one is a wrap around the edges of the house type of garden - not much planting room, it would be too depressing.

Oo and I did see the gawjus Diarmuid Gavin - my Mr Darcy of the gardening world.

Everything is growing this year - last year, courgettes, squashes, beans didn't want to put in an appearance to start with but this year they are all growing well. 'Firth on the Forth!' This old postbox is outside the house they're filming in so they have a nice sea view from the windows!

Just listened to the Paul Buchanan interview with Bob. Came across as just about as unpretentious and self-effacing as it's possible to be. Thoroughly likable.

Woohoo, what an exciting day!



The 'flame' was very well received by the good folk of West Somerset.



I collected my Daughter from her year 2 uni digs today and she is home now until September.





We walked the mile and a half across the fields of many colours to the nearest viewing point. It seemed odd really. We followed the steam railway line, two trains passed by as we walked, then through three fields full of cows, some milking and ready to be milked too, the others, with boisterous bullocks, inquisitive and a little cheeky really!



Then past more fields beautifully coloured blue with linseed, quite stunning.



Finally from the peace and tranquility of the walk, we arrived at the main road to the most amazing scene!



Carhampton, is not a place that any of you have probably heard of, but today and for one day only, it was a place filled with a magical spirit. Hundreds of people, all waiting patiently for the arrival of 'our' olympic torch.



I dont think I have ever seen such a huge police presence, but appreciate, that traffic needs to be managed carefully, we do have an influx of around 7000 visitors to the nearby camp on a Monday.



There was a great air of days gone by and locals were allowing people to sit on their lawns to obtain the best view possible.



I am just so pleased, that we managed to be there, I hope other bloggers share the occasion too, as it makes it way around our great country.

Oh forgot to say, with the excitement of it all, failed miserably to get a decent pic of the flame. One of those moments to be seen and experienced, rather than captured on film!

Flaming Sal, it sounds like you had an enjoyable experience watching the olympic torch passing by. If an artist friend of mine read your message she would soon have painted a nice watercolour picture of pretty coloured fields, cows and trains!



When the torch passes through several Edinburgh streets ending up at the Castle on 13th June, there's a free concert at the Castle for 7,500 people which includes Emeli Sande, who seems to be very popular at the moment.

I wonder why that annoying man was carrying the torch when there must have been many locals who would liked to have carried it? He's irritating enough on The Voice... always texting through the programme and he's texting again whilst carrying an olympic torch... he probably sleeps with his phone on the pillow!

Haha, the Points West presenters did say, that some of us over the age of 30 would ask Will I WHO?



So many thrilled youngsters in Taunton, all very excited about seeing him.

LOL at Will. I. am. There is a very funny person on Tw**ter called I Am Ken Barlow who tweets the funniest lines when The Voice is on if you are interested. It keeps me amused during the show anyway.



The torch is going to be busy on 13th June Flo as it is coming here that day too.



The canteen above our office flooded us out - something to do with a pipe not being securely fitted to a coffee machine. I was wondering about Coffeebuzz's whereabouts that weekend?

I like Will.I.Am. And I like him tweeting through The Voice. He tweets pictures of the set from a perspective you don't get from tv. And given where we are these days, why not. But I don't understand why he was given the flame to carry and agree with Florence on that point.

Quiet day on the blog yesterday - it's not often that we don't get over 100 posts. Well done to all who got menshes, especially Suzieeee who is off the OSM bench at last ;o) Must admit I thought the oldies were a bit predictable. We've had similar themes before with the same songs played. And there were lots of other really good suggestions.



I enjoyed the show otherwise though. Midge Ure was good value, and I thought Paul G's words on Robin Gibb were quite moving.



Sal, what a sight that must have been! Whatever you think of the Olympics (and I know not everyone is interested) it's so nice to have some news that's not all doom and gloom for a change. Hoffs, hope you and Mini Hoffs enjoy seeing the torch today.



I'm sure there were other things I was going to say, but I can't remember what they were. And my toast is getting cold.

The torch has already passed through my alternative stomping ground early this morning, and the pictures on the BBC website look lovely in the sunshine. Wish I could have been there. Will have to wait now until July.
