All welcome
Friday! A good word. A positive, optimistic word. And a two hour all-requester at the end of the day. Shall we go for a BIG SIXTIES OPENER? I think we shall. Sixties only please, so get your jaunty Brian Matthew hats on and see what you come up with.
And welcome to all new bloggers. I am imagining that from our new 200,000 listeners (apparently) there may well be some new bloggers too. I see new names popping up and it is good to see you there; pop in regularly for some good conversation, show discussion and the awarding of ceremonial hats. A unique service I believe and offered nowhere else.
Yesterday's media tartery has gone (for the record Sky and Eamonn lovely, most of the Loose Women lovely also. And I got to say 'non-seqitur' on TV. Whats more, I think I used it correctly). Today it is just radio all the way. Some 5 first. Todays movie guest is the director and writer of The Raid a new head-crunching action/martial arts film. It's filmed in Indonesia, it is about Indonesian crooks and cops, so obviously it is directed by a Welshman. He is Gareth Evans and he will explain more today...
Then it is ARF time and that's where you come in...
Have a confident and procrastination-free Friday. See you after 2&5

I had thought to offer bat out of hell as an opener, having been bombarded by the critters last night up at the park, as we were a MAIN attraction to bloomin midges and the bats were divebombing overhead to snap them up..
However, wrong era.
So sixties then?
Only one that springs to mind is
I WANNA HOLD YOUR HAND by the Beatles.
My mother burst into song with this one as we walked along a street in about 1966 - because as a small child I was trying always to be the one holding her hand (sibling rivalry.....)
Also can happily hear Jimi H, (Watchtower) or The Move.
Sad news about LaDonna Adrian Gaines - & spooky that the DT ARFO crown was won just recently with a Donna Summer track.
She was the same age as my boss/mentor/friend that died this week.
My fave of hers is State of Independance.
A sudden death of a friend/loved one often has an effect on a person's future plans - and having met with a bessie mate last night, I've decided to not delay my plans to visit India (mr e has been for work and didn't like it) - she and I are going to 'Carpe Diem' and taking a trip together next March. I must go while I am hale, hearty and have no family illnesses, or worries - you never know when these things will strike.
A lovely event-free weekend beckons here, the last for a while, so making the most of a chance to unwind.
Good luck all with your ARFO choices,

In for a penny, in for a pound - I get 3 bites at the Olympic torch
May 22 - it goes within spitting distance of the bolthole. But as it's a weekday, we won't be around. (Bl**dy weekenders, not contributing to community life, blah blah blah)
July 24 - right past the end of the road of Be Good Towers
July 27 - we might also get another peak at it on its final journey from Hampton Court to the Olympic Stadium
**Might be nice if bloggers changed their names to "Flaming ______" on the day the torch is passing through their neck the woods, to give us a sense of it moving round the country????
Oh, and just to be mega greedy, we get four road cycling races coming through during the Games too.

#FMR - I've been listening to quite a lot of new (to me) music this week, I haven't had time to track down the individual albums, other than The Punch Brothers - Who's Feeling Young Now, and I am loving them right now. I'm just going to post links to one of their songs and a small selection of the other fine folk, and songs that I have been listening to this week...
The Punch Brothers - Patchwork Girlfriend: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MtujO99Czw
A song I first heard on The Walking Dead, and have finally got around to locating, and I will be listening to more from this artist...
Wye Oak - Civilian: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mssm8Ml5sOo&feature=youtube_gdata_player
A singer I first heard on The Hunger Games soundtrack, with a cover of a Cherry Ghost song...
Birdy - People Help The People: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmLNs6zQIHo&ob=av3e
A recommendation from one of my Twitter followers, and a cover of a Crowded House song, and oldie favourite...
Boy And Bear - Fall At Your Feet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJwjKL2dxXo
I may not get back on-line today, or indeed over the weekend, plus the twins' respite service is closing down for refurbishment as of now, so I will have to pop in when/if I get the chance.
Good luck for ARFO everyone, and have a great weekend :)
