Absent.
Hi folks. Not here today as its book launch day and ALL launches have to be between 6.30 and 8.30. It's in the rules. So Matt, Rebecca and Sal and heading over after the show, and will just miss my fabulously witty and dry speech.
Liza in charge and then back tomorrow for World Book Day. Be good to Ms Tarbuck and see you Thursday.
And keep the blog rolling!

We bloggers do appreciate the extra effort you put in on our behalf, and we will all be with you in spirit at the book launch this evening. Major preparations in our house for World Book Day, as the daughter wants to better her ladybird costume from last year. So new duffle coat, wellies, small brown suitcase, and marmalade have now been acquired, as well as a large black hat. Can you tell who she's going as?

From yesterday's blog - Billie and Deebee - #116 & 7? - it wasn't so much the short bursts of cycling that got me it was the bit about 'the chair is the killer'. Made me think about how much time I spend on my bottom and how I should be moving a bit more!
#3 - Mrs Boris - sorry to hear that work is not great at the moment. Hope the situation improves soon.
#6 & 13 - Hi Andy - I like the sound of the book day costume!
#5 - Jilly - being as slow as I am, I thought there must have been a mis-type of your mister's age but then realised what day it is - sorry! Happy birthday to him and hope you both have a great day.
#14 - Sal (if I may) - I just love your nature descriptions. Just blackbirds and pigeons here and if we are lucky, the odd wagtail.
Finally - Deebee - hope all goes well for your mum today.

Jilly, happy 12th birthday to your Mister!!! (Think I have worked out his real age! Must be a bit like cat/dog years!!)
AndyT - good to see you! Costume for your girl sounds great. If we had to dress up as book characters for school, my Mum had a singular lack of imagination and I was always Alice in Wonderland. One year I threw a wobbly and so I went as Amy from Little Women. She looks like Alice in Wonderland.
Sal, sounds like you are making the most of things! Happy days indeed.
JBG, if you are lurking, thanks for the mole advice. I will definitely wear gloves - especially if handling cat poo!

I have just ordered the Kindle version of Simon's book for an extra pressie for my avid reader husband's birthday, only £6.45 too! After reading the reviews on Amazon, it sounds like it will be a change from his Wilbur Smith, James Patterson, Ian Rankin type books and I might just take a peep too!
MTF, you're like me and love the seabirds and especially the variety of birds who gather along the shoreline, and I love seeing Curlews and Oystercatchers in the field in front of our house sometimes or in the local park. Just as you're waiting for the sand martins, at this time of the year we eagerly await the return of the beautiful gannets and already there are quite a few on the Bass Rock as you can see from this live webcam, but before long, there will be thousands of Gannets returning to breed and the rock will be covered with them.
Live webcam: https://www.seabird.org/webcam-live.asp
We have the Scottish Seabird Centre at our local harbour with several webcams on the Bass Rock, Isle of May, Craigleith and Fidra islands that can be operated in the centre by visitors and it's always exciting to see the seals on the Isle of May.

Entry to Academy 1 is ground floor, Academy 2 on 1st floor.
Just back from the doctors, having been unable to shake off what feels like a chesty cough for 3 weeks. Doctor listens to chest, then proceeds to tell me that although they listen to the chest, non-smokers rarely get chest infections so he knew it would be clear (it was) and I have the most common cause of a persistent cough.
Result: Ken leaves doctors with tail between legs and feeling as though doctor's time has just been wasted!

It seems the green and pink boxes are also causing frustration for people commenting on some of the BBC's news blogs. It looks like the same issue, but we still don't know why it's happening.
Frustratingly, every time we test the issue through our 'test blog', it works fine.
And because the issue is so intermittent, it is proving difficult to track down what's going wrong (despite your bug reports, all of which we've reviewed and are most grateful for).
Thanks again for your patience - there are a couple of people working on this as we speak.

#9 Loved the little artistic 'flourish' there, Flo. Very impressed.
Hope the interview went well, Alex.
Deebs, wishing your Mum all the best this evening.
MTF- sorry I can't break the habit- should I just call you Sal? ;-) I thought of you this morning when I walked down into the fields to see to my chickens and pony. At 5.45 the owls (little and tawny's) were competing with the robins, blackbirds and my cockerel for best soloists in the dawn chorus. Absolutely magical it was. As we have said before, the sound of blackbirds singing at this time of year is just the best. Hope you spot the sand martins soon.
I have been incredibly busy this week at work, usual end of month stuff, and the weekend is looking hectic too, both children back from Uni as it is my daughters 20th on Saturday! I know, I look far too young!! ;-) Her actual due date was 29th, but she stayed put as we moved house that day, and obliged us all by arriving 3 days later!
Now after typing all that, let's see if I get one of these green/pink boxes..........

Happy birthday to Master Jilly on his 12th birthday. X
Deebee, all good wishes for your mum this evening. X
Surprise blog from Simon today although I haven't lifted my head above work all day. The price you pay for having a few days off I expect. Hope Simon's speech goes well at the book launch though.
*Fingers crossed I'll get a look in for a choon chase tomorrow*

From Micky Dolenz – “I am in a state of shock; Davy and I grew up together and shared in the unique success of what became The Monkees phenomena. The time we worked together and had together is something I'll never forget. He was the brother I never had and this leaves a gigantic hole in my heart. The memories have and will last a lifetime. My condolences go out to his family.”
From Peter Tork – "It is with great sadness that I reflect on the sudden passing of my long-time friend and fellow-adventurer, David Jones. His talent will be much missed; his gifts will be with us always. My deepest sympathy to Jessica and the rest of his family. Adios, to the Manchester Cowboy..."
From Michael Nesmith - "All the lovely people. Where do they all come from? So many lovely and heartfelt messages of condolence and sympathy, I don't know what to say, except my sincere thank you to all. I share and appreciate your feelings. But let's not get ahead of ourselves here. While it is jarring, and sometimes seems unjust, or ...strange, this transition we call dying and death is a constant in the mortal experience that we know almost nothing about. I am of the mind that it is a transition and I carry with me a certainty of the continuity of existence. While I don't exactly know what happens in these times, there is an ongoing sense of life that reaches in my mind out far beyond the near horizons of mortality and into the reaches of infinity. That David has stepped beyond my view causes me the sadness that it does many of you. I will miss him, but I won't abandon him to mortality. I will think of him as existing within the animating life that ensures existence. I will think of him and his family with that gentle regard in spite of all the contrary appearances on the mortal plane. David's spirit and soul live well in my heart, among all the lovely people, who remember with me the good times, and the healing times, that were created for so many, including us. I have fond memories. I wish him safe travels."

Matt from BAIU, thanks for your efforts in trying to rid us of the pesky green and red boxes. I had the green one just now when I logged back on. At least we know it's not just us!
I have news of my Mum - she has had the operation, the hospital phoned about an hour ago and said she was back on the ward and doing well. I'll try and speak to her tomorrow morning before I leave for work. Thanks once again to everyone who's sent well wishes - it's a real comfort and so lovely to have all your support!

Florence – Sincere thanks for your trouble in posting the quotes about Davy Jones. The one from Mike Nesmith was very moving.
My husband is 12 years younger than me – I seduced him – by the way – so he was too young to have experienced The Monkees first time around – but I wasn’t – and I was there to watch their TV shows – how funny, zany, anarchic, inventive, warm and friendly!
Actually there was a show, which wouldn’t be allowed now, where, at the end, they “out” a Cameraman – and another show in which they “mince” “Deck The Halls”!
But they covered all topics – misunderstandings, insecurity, prejudice, lovelessness.
Then they have been described as non-musicians and yet history has proven them to be the opposite and I shall post again what I posted at Christmas – a cappella –

Do you know something infuriating about this blog? I am typing this late at night cos I can’t be here in the day! Am I just talking to myself? Will anyone read this? Will everyone just get so involved in menshchasing that they won’t bother to read back?
Please let me know – even if you totally disagree!
Katy – miss you – you read the blog!
Deebee – so glad to hear about your mum!

How nice to have a toyboy husband! Mine is two years older than me so I've no idea what it must be like having someone 12 years younger, but as 'generally' (not always) men seem to die at a younger age than women, I'm sure than you and he will stand a better chance of growing old together, especially if you were around here, where there seems to be an abundance of elderly ladies, including a large group of veteran lady golfers who are all over 80-years of age and play regularly!

Billie, like others have said, choon and menche chasing is only a side line for me. I enjoy reading and chatting with all you lovely folks and realised when I had to take leave of absence last week for a few days, that I am a blog addict. Cold turkey was not pleasant. Twitching fingers to get on the laptop all the time is a scary thing. Tee hee. X

Billie - message received. I think, like most people on here, we read a lot that we don't always comment on. But over the course of time it all add to the rich tapestry of blogland as we paint pictures of each other's events and thoughts and opinions and feelings. (Sorry to mix my metaphors)
Anyway, lovely sunny day, happy March and happy St David's Day everyone. (Confession - I've only been to Wales once. But I've only been to Scotland once, and Ireland once - but not NI - so there's no special bias!)
See you on the fresh new page. There might be a few sore heads, methinks.
Oh, I also discovered last night that Sky's Challenge channel, which is showing Blockbuster, is available on Freeview.
