I confess I've never read a Roald Dahl book. Seem to recall we might have had Charlie and the Chocolate Factory read to us, but my reading went from Silver Sword straight to Ian Fleming, John Creasey's Inspector West books and JT Edson westerns. It was a bit of a problem when I didn't want to take anything to read from the primary school book shelf :-)

.....and Breathe Simon!!!! .....sorry to hear your woes...you sound like me on my journey in...under my breathe of course not talking to myself!!! ...the one Auto gripe of mine is the lack of peoples intelligence when they arrive at roundabouts....my instructor taught me back in the day that you look to your right at the island and if traffic is driving across those peeps then it is safe to go....but noooo i see countless numpties sat there looking and staring and holding up the traffic...also lack of indicator using is a gripe of mine.,..honestly I feel like mystic meg sometimes!!!!



Anyway, Roald Dahl....my fave was Danny the champion of the world....it made me cry!!! and when me and my best mate at the time were 9 the student teacher read to us James and the giant peach and we were at the back head on our arms in harmonies quiet as mice humming the six million dollar man tune because the student teacher was quite a well blessed lady with a big plum necklace and we was imagining her running bionicly hence the hum of "BOING BOING BOING BOING"!! Anyway this was the reason I could not reiterate much about said book other than the fact it was about A PEACH!!!!

Me too! It's like offspring of Howard Hughes asking for help to maintain his gazebo!! I mean, our garden office (ok, shed) is in need of creosoting, anyone feel the need to chip in?!

It's called 'A King's Ransome' in case you're interested!



What happended to me is that I logged on to see 1 comment, only one - and while I was writing, the phone rang - and I had to send out an email, organise some tables, yadda yadda yadda meantime I then finished and posted only to find of course that my fellow blogpoppets had also seen the connection with Peaches, etc. WORK is a four letter word today, I mean it just gets in the way!

I was a big fan of Roald Dahl's books when I was younger, I think I must have read them all, at one time or another. I loved reading when I was a kid, and my mum would buy me a new book every Saturday as a treat. My favourite book of his was probably Fantastic Mr Fox, but I loved them all really.

I had an email recently from a pal asking me to sponsor her as she was going to be swimming the distance of the Channel - 22 miles. I misread it that she was swimming the Channel and got all excited on her behalf - what she was actually doing though was swimming 22 miles in a pool! D'oh!



#38 Mandy, roundabouts are a gripe of mine too. There's a particular one in Cambridge where everybody stops and hesistates, and then they all try to move at once. I'm surprised there aren't more accidents there. And as for cyclists on roundabouts - don't get me started...
