24/7
This blog is red hot. It never gets a chance to cool down. Where do you go in the middle of the night, just to say you're still up? Drivetime blog that's where. I'm even tempted to get up at 3am tomorrow morning just to see if anyone is there. Based on yesterday, I'd say the answer is yes. You're never alone with the Drivetime bloggers...
Have texted Matt to find out how Guns n Roses turned out last night. So far - silence. His confidence wasn't high that everything would be straightforward. Like the band turning up on time, that kind of thing. Review might have to wait till showtime.
Nigel's lamb was something to behold last night (and here's a lovely pic to prove it)and pleased some of you feel the same way about the mint.

Poor man spilt most of the remaining jar (and that's most of it) on the carpet, so if assorted R2 presenters start slipping and sliding all over in the studio, you'll know who/what to blame.
Two shows today as ever. Movies at 1400 on 5L with David Arnold, Anton Corbijn and Dr Mark Kermode. Then the taxi bike to Radio 2 for the mighty ARF. ARF openers below please! Have a rather pleasant Friday.

For my ARF, please can I request:
SOMETHING ABOUT YOU by Level 42
Because I'm going to see them on Monday. Can't wait!
Off to work now, although I'm feeling a bit lurgyfied, so I'm not sure if I'm going to last the day (it's okay, Mcw - I'm not blaming you!) I'm quite tempted to pull a sickie around lunchtime so I can come home and listen to the 5 Live show. But I'm probably too conscientious.

I would be thrilled to hear it played on the show, but am quite happy to wait my turn. After all, what is just over 13 months, of asking for it? Nope, all good things are worth waiting for, so I am prepared to sit this one out for as long as it takes.

I am going to hear the show tonight so was going to request my usual "hearing the show" ARF. Unfortunately, Chris played it this morning so unlikely to get a second play today. Never mind, my own little Cracklin' Rosie had fun dancing and singing along to it in the kitchen. Well, I sang. She can't. She's a cat.
I was going to suggest my second Rosie-related ARF but then little Rosie had a whisper in my ear and asked for:

Seeing as David Arnold is in with Simon on 5Live, how about DA & Bjork with Play Dead?
I'm also at a friend's 30th birthday party this weekend, and she shares it with Manfred Mann and Steve Cropper, so my alternative choices are:
Manfred Mann - 54321 or The Mighty Quinn
Steve Cropper being in several bands, I think I'd go for The Blues Brothers - Everybody Needs Somebody To Love.

I've been thinking about the party idea that was suggested yesterday (by Tortie, I think?). It would be really lovely if we could all get together for a party, but I'm guessing it will be nigh on impossible to find a venue within reasonable travelling distance for all of us. So how about a cyber party? We could agree on a date when we would all be able to log on at the same time - like the CLP bloggers do on a Friday night, but it would be great to get as many bloggers as possible to join in. We could all dress up in our party gear and come along, each with their own favourite tipple and a few nibbles and do what we do best on here - bon mots and banter! Maybe we could have FB chat and MSN going on concurrently for people to break off into smaller discussion groups - as you would in a 'real' party. What do people think?

As the newbie on this very friendly and vocal blog, I bow to your greater goodness and experience if yours gets played.
Either way, from one escapee to another, happy hols - and we'll bring back some sunshine for the rest of you,

Geddit?!
Is that what you call a Tony Blackburn moment??

Now then on with the blog partay - anyone feeling like a fancy dress partay or is it going to be a bit more formal? I have no preference either way. And should we invite the gorgeous Mr Mayo and his super duper Team?
I'll do a rice salad and perhaps a pasta salad too, if that's okay. Oh and I'll do a gorgeous mediterranean veg couscous concoction borrowed from a friend. I'd offer to do a cheesecake but my one and only attempt turned out a little dry. May give it another go tho' and, if it's any good, I'll bring it along, if not, I'll feed it to the GBs ;)
Oh no! I missed my wee pal MP - I wonder where he is today. Malcolm! Malcolm!! Where are you!!!???!!!

I'm currently 2 days overdue, waiting for the arrival of my second child - a boy. My daughter was 10 days late, so am not expecting his arrival anytime soon, but to gee him along, I'd quite like to hear Paul Simon & "Mother & Child Reunion", as the ARF opener today please
My 3 word Friday is "No Contractions Yet..."
Cheers Simon & crew

#78 Ooh, I feel I should contribute more than just dips, if you are making all those salads AFKA! Hows about a good old fashioned trifle and maybe some mince pies? I don't think we should go fancy dress - perhaps semi-formal? Would be lovely if Simon and Team joined us!
MALCOLM!!! Come out to play!

Sorry Lopho to send you off on your hols with this but, when you think about it, it'll save you on sun cream as the brim is wide enough to protect your ears, neck and shnozzle from burning.
Happy holidays :-)

Of course Mr M and the team should all be invited! As long as they contribute to the food - in fact, let's hope Nigel's available. That will definitely raise the bar nosh-wise! Not sure about the fancy dress idea, though - but if anyone else wants to have a go then feel free.

The hens are down in a paddock and I usually throw a stick for the dog as he loves a game and has learnt to bring the stick back as dogs do. However, on this occasion, one of my hens, Delia, decided she wanted to play too. I threw the stick five times, and five times she went running after it with the dog. Incredible! Unfortunately the dog was faster than her, but I think even he was surprised with his new playmate! Where is a camera when you need one?

No my dear, I'm in the big bad city of Londinium.
Yeah, 2 weeks is not exactly popular with the parents. What to do when the October days are getting colder, damper, darker by the minute? I wonder if the children (and parents!) might possible enjoy an extra week of summer hols more in July or September??? Hmmm, let me think about that for a nanosecond.
Really gotta go now,
Good luck all

#84 - That is just so sweet. No real need for a camera, you have conjured up a lovely image.
#85 - Lopho - As a parent I'd rather have the extra week in the summer hols. Having said that, my nephew and niece went to school in Scotland and they always had a fortnight in October. My sis and her hubby took their hols then so they always had a fortnight of sunshine to set them up for the winter.
