Re. the X-Factor - for some strange reason, I've been watching it this year. Normally, I wouldn't even watch the final! But I still prefer Strictly. My Sunday nights are now completely taken care of: Strictly results show, X Factor results show and then David Tennant - bliss!

Strictly for me. Live music and sexy ladies in frocks beats Simon Cowell's show every time. And technology means Bruce can be avoided if he gets too doddery. Talking of which, does the fact that he's dropped the joke mean that he thinks he might actually be getting a bit too doddery? He does seem to be dropping off a bit.

#81 I agree with you Gaily. I think programmes that include a public vote have to be auditable and accountable these days. I don't see how they could be "fixed" and with the joys of technology, it takes a nano-second to count votes.

In addition to the now ubiquitous 'transparency' rules that govern all quizzes, phone-ins and public vote things on TV there is another reason why the X-Factor is patently not 'fixed'.



If it were a rigged show, there would only be one person in a position to do the 'rigging'. That would be the head honcho, Simon Cowell. He lost one of his acts on the first week of the show and a second of his acts last night. If he's fixing the show, he's not very good at it.

I usually watch both of them but only for the last 6 weeks.

This year, however, I have watched every second of X Factor [even the online stuff] because of Spike's connection with one of the contestants.
