Think Sir Cliff is making a big mistake. Rick Rubin twiddling the knobs and sliding the sliders (or clicking the mouse or whatever producers do these days), a guitar, and some great songs is a sure fire way to credibility, based on all known current form! The Johnny Cash American Series albums are great. I think Rubin produced the Avett Brothers latest as well. He has a golden touch.



Just received the email with Electric Proms wrist-band collection procedures. Anyone that's bought two tickets has to make sure both people turn up to collect at the same time so if, for example, one person is available at midday to do the Roundhouse a favour and collect early that's just not acceptable to them. And if you do them a favour and turn up at midday to collect, helping them manage the later queues, you are not allowed to remove the wrist band before the show!!!!



Jeez, am I the only one that thinks they're taking the mickey treating paying customers like that? They don't send out tickets, saving themselves postage costs, and then dictate to the customer what they can and can't do.



It's more like being released from prison eith electronic tagging* than going to a gig! If I remove my wristband I'll be half expecting sirens and a helicopter with searchlights overhead Camden Town.



* Not that I have any first or even third hand experience of such an experience :-)

#87 Love the early Pat Metheny and Metheny Group albums, and I compelely wore out my vinyl copy of Travels! Saw them three times at Hammersmith in the 80s and "Are You Going With Me?" was always the highlight for me.



I kinda lost interest after he did his album with Ornette Coleman which I found completely unlistenable - didn't even make it past side 1. I guess avant garde screeching isn't to my taste :-)

#93 - Robert Plant on the Friday. Really looking forward to it as I've never seen him in any guise in the flesh before (Knebworth Zeppelin gigs came a couple of years too early for me to make my own decision and my Mum decided she didn't like the idea of the bloke next door taking me). I'm a big fan of Buddy Miller and Patty Griffin as well so Band of Joy is 100% good news for me.



It does seem a bit of a fussy approach though. Never been to the Roundhouse before so not sure if this is the norm for the venue or if it's a BBC-induced thing.

Ken, I agree with you wholeheartedly. However, I would think that the wristbands will be 'fixed' to your wrist, and only removable by destruction. One of our paperboys experienced something similar recently, and was a little miffed that the wristband had to be torn to remove it, thus ruining his chances of adding it to his collection of ephemera he has saved from other concert visits. He instead just wore it contiually until there was noyhinh left of it.
