...interesting point - where does a nickname end and a stage name begin? Are the people really called by their nicknames in real life, or is it there just for show, i.e. their stage name?

for instance, my aunt used to live round the corner from Alvin Stardust in Mandfield, and everyone called him Alvin, even his family, so that really was a nickname. I wonder if Bono is called Bono by his family?
