In 1997, Majoli was as high as sixth in the world rankings. It was a good year for the Croatian who won the French Open and also triumphed in Hannover and Hamburg. She also made it to the quarter-final stage at Wimbledon. A number of serious injuries since then saw her drop down the rankings. But she is now back to near her best and won in Charleston this year - her eighth WTA title. Then number 58, she became the lowest-ranked player to win a Tour event since the rankings were introduced 22 years ago. |
