York's Dan Wilson needs 75 more runs to make 1,000 for the season |
York's Alex Renton broke the resistance of Appleby Frodingham with a spell of 5-8 to help his side win by 10 wickets. Renton took 5-34 and Dan Wilson 3-13 to dismiss the Scunthorpe side for 160. Wilson then hit 112 not out in 60 balls as York reached 164-1. Renton said: "I've bowled really well in the last couple of weeks but not taken that many wickets." That moved York eight points clear at the top after Scarborough suffered a rain-affected draw at Doncaster. Skipper Darren Harland scored 102 not out and 16-year-old Scott Cooper made 50 not out as Scarborough made 193-3. | I should imagine (Appleby Frodingham) will probably start as favourites
Harrogate Chairman Miles Rawlings |
Doncaster lost six wickets fairly quickly but batted the game out to finish on 77-6. Both sides take three points for a no-result because 20 overs were lost to rain. Third-placed Barnsley lost to Sheffield United by just one run in a game that did not end until 2045 BST. Bottom club Harrogate took three points after their game at Yorkshire Academy was rained off. York's Dan Wilson has now scored 925 runs for the season and will fancy his chances of passing the 1,000 mark at home to Hull on Sunday. Also on Sunday Scarborough entertain Castleford. With the Lyth batting brothers unavailable Harland said: "We're a very young team and it gives these other lads (such as Cooper) an opportunity." Harrogate are at home to Appleby Frodingham who, according to chairman Miles Rawlings, "are a much improved side this year, and I should imagine will probably start as favourites."
