NatWest Pro 40 D2, Guildford: Surrey 219-8 lost to Yorkshire 230-7 by 11 runs
Surrey made a poor start to their Pro40 campaign as they went down by 11 runs to Yorkshire at Guildford. A fine innings from Chris Schofield kept Surrey in the game but it was not enough to save the hosts. After winning the toss Yorkshire batted and posted 230-7, with contributions all down the order, including Adil Rashid and Richard Pyrah's late flurry. Schofield cracked 58 off 44 balls but holed out with 41 needed off the last three overs to end Surrey's chances. When Yorkshire found themselves 171-7 after 31 overs it had looked like they might struggle to get to 200. But Rashid made 33 off 34 balls and Pyrah 26 off 25 balls in what proved to be the decisive partnership.
